Do I have to worry about ants any more?

Q. Well, I live in Denver Colorado area, and for the past year i've been dealing with ants in my bedroom for the past year. I used to always use a TON of hot shot kitchen bug killer, but I don't think the issues over yet. I normally have 6 ants per day in the summer and now its limited to 2 or 3 a mouth. These ants are red and black medium sized red upper black butt. I think I just killed their queen today which had a very large butt and wings with pitchers. After this I made some remedy which was made of stain remover, yeast, rice vinegar, sugar, and syrup. My question is do you think that remedy will work and do you think the colony will die because of the one queen I killed and threw away somewhere a block away so they couldn't smell it? By the way my parents don't know about this so I got rid of my fish tanks because ants like humidity. IM only 14 and I NEED help!!!
PS I WANT THEM TO DIE AND BURN IN F U C K I N G HELL!!!!!!!!!!

A. The queen would not have been in your room, but never leaves the nest. That may have been a breeding male........they will get the wings at breeding season.......which is usually mid summer....so I am confused too. I assume you know the difference between ants and termites. Denver wasn't know for termites in my days there but I guess things can change.

Always better to use bait type pesticides that are taken back to the queen and fed to her. Most pesticides just kill the workers while they forage, they are easily and quickly replaced. Often better to treat outside around house perimeter with the bait stuff.....Amdro for example. Your homemade mixes may have no effect at all. One addition to your brews should be boric acid as found in Roach Pruf. Ants are sweet eaters or "meat" eaters. So mix boric acid in some peanutbutter for the "meat" and some jelly for the sweet. Put into a small jar with small holes in lid. Set where you think ants are coming in. They take the poison food back to the queen.

Ants should be tucked away for winter........if you are getting them during winter then you have an interior nest and problems.

Is this a good quilt cover for an oriental themed bedroom, what else could I include?

A. This is wonderful bedding and gives you a great starting point. I would spice up your room with accessories in black, gold, and red and maybe a couple of red satin cushions for your bedding too. You can hang scrolls or fans on the wall, and hang a grouping of three rice paper lanterns. Bamboo plants and bonsai trees are great additions or even a small sand/zen garden. You can buy tall glass vases (inexpensive at Walmart) and place natural polished stones in the bottom with a few bamboo shoots stuck down in the rocks to grow. Fill the container up to the top and put in a betta fish choosing him in red to match your room. As for your funishings..you can get it in black or paint it black..low bed, ladder shelf, even a rice paper screen. You can add some green drawings on the wall, decals, or authentic words in gold. Lots of things to do and ideas. Your walls can be red, burnt orange or a soft green....or...if you don't want to go to that extreme, then you can stick to a more neutral colour...a beigey colour leaning towards a gold colour would be soft, neutral, and look great.

Living space, clutter issue?
Q. I'm living with my parents, and probably will be for quite a while, and while it's nice of them and all to let me live here for free, the atmosphere is incredibly unhealthy. Every house has its clutter, naturally, and I'm sure there are houses worse than this, but the real issue is that these people are also controlling and oblivious about it.

They've always had a clutter problem. They always want to move to new, bigger houses. Both my sister and brother have moved out, and both their rooms have become storage rooms. Any time there is new space, it is quickly filled with food, or random niknaks. They'll collect furniture, particularly dressers and cabinets, and fill them with more food. I'm currently bedding in my brothers old room, on a queen sized mattress on the floor, and there is literally no floor space. The queen bed barely fits, stretching from the door to the window. There is one cabinet, two dressers, all full of food. On the top of the dressers is more food. Boxes of it. There is enough floor space for two boxes of food, containers of whey powder, beer, cake mixes, bags of rice, 2L bottles of soda, etc. The closet is full of food. Olives, sauces, crackers. There is a fajita grill on the top shelf. The only place for my stuff is literally on the bed with me, or tossed over the back of a chair I managed to scrape (literally scraped the wall) in for my cat to sleep on so she didn't get cat hair everywhere.

The only reason I'm in this room rather than my actual bedroom room is because it's too full of stuff to live in. The bed is covered in bags of clothes they bought for my nephew, who's playpen is in that room also. There is food covering the rest of it, food on the headboard, food on the floor. There is no access to my bookshelves because there's garbage bags full of clothes, shoes or food. The only place for clothes in that room is in one shelf of a five shelf dresser (the rest are filled with childrens clothes), and on top of a boxed keyboard that they bought at an antique shop that has only ever been used as an extra shelf (same situation in the dining room with an exercise machine, it's a shelf). I'm told I can't have that room back, because they need it for storage, and for my nephew to sleep in, or for company to sleep in.

I want someplace to actually exist, but I need some advice on how to go about it. I tried clearing out a room in the basement once, and after spending over 18 straight hours cleaning it, it looked the same as when I began, even though I'd thrown out 9 garbage bags worth of stuff and put more of it under the stairs. They acknowledge they have too much stuff, but continue to buy more. The most recent purchases were a 60" TV and a new dining room suite. Often they justify purchases as, "it was on sale", or, "we'll need a new set of this eventually", or, "I bought this to give to my friends / give the old stuff to friends." But it stays here, gets put away, and forgotten.

How can I go about setting this straight? Even for just one room? I feel like I've bitten off more than I can chew, and the whole situation is just hopeless. Just being here is depressing. There's no space to move around in, so I spend most of the time laying in bed. It's the only space I have to myself. I need somewhere to work. I'm sure if I cleared an area of the floor, put a mat on it, and designated it "the push-up spot", it would be covered in a box of food within the week.

Some advice, please.
I'm editing to mention most of the food is not edible, as someone said I should be happy I'm not going to starve. Most of the food is condiments. Sauces, mayo, etc. It gets collected because it's not used and is disproportionate to actual meals. I certainly won't go hungry if I enjoy eating popcorn kernels slathered in mustard.

A. Your parents sound like hoarders. I'm not saying that to be mean but if you have ever seen or have any intention of seeing "Hoarders: Buried Alive" on TLC... your parents sound exactly like the people on that show.

I am sure not as bad.. but they might have a mild hoarding problem.

You need to get your parents help. You should call an organization specialist for your parents.

Even though you will be moving out eventually... don't you want your parents to live in a clean, nice home when you are living somewhere else?

If you decide not to talk to a specialist... you should go to your parents and tell them that you know you shouldn't complain because they are letting you live there but you think you deserve at least one room in the house to be yourself and decorate it how you want or just to live in it how you want. Ask them if you three can go through the room you want to live in together and pick things to give away or at least put in another room.

I hope it all works out:)

Is this a good workout/diet?
Q. I'm 204 pounds, 14, and looking to get to if not under 150 pounds. I plan to start by losing 20 pounds, and then just keep setting new goals by twenty pounds.
I put myself on a 1,150 calorie budget, and plan to walk for 20 minutes 5 days a week. For 20 minutes at home for three days a week (overlapping with the walk) I have an exercise plan.
And since I'm only 14 and there's no local gym, I'll only be going occasionally when my mom is willing to take me.
tl;dr
204 pounds looking to get to 150
1,150 calories a day, 20 minutes of exercise on some days, 40 on others, no gym, I'm 14.

A. Keep your exercise periods REGULAR. I CANNOT stress this enough to you. And you don't need the gym to lose weight. What's wrong with you living room or bedroom? And no matter what the weight, walking doesn't do much to help lose weight. It burns a few calories, and that's it.

Three days a week isn't gonna cut it. Follow this exercise plan. I'm 15, 110 pounds, and this is the workout and diet regimen I followed, no particular attention paid to number of calories in my meals.

If you want to feel better about yourself, don't kill yourself with binging, becoming bulimic, or anorexic. Just follow a healthy diet and exercise plan like the one I'm going to list out for you:

1. Jump-roping is the best for all-around weight-loss/muscle build-up. Everyday, do 30 minutes of jump-roping STRAIGHT THROUGH.

2. Running. Not jogging, RUNNING. Sprinting short distances, taking breaths in between, and doing it again for about an hour a day is good for both muscle build-up and weight loss.

3. Sit-ups. Crunches. Anything to make your abs burn will help you build them up and burn calories and carbs fast.

4. Stretching. Sounds weird for something like weight loss, but it really helps. Sit on your butt, legs out in front of you and reach for your toes. If possible, wrap your hands around the balls of your feet and hold for about 30 seconds at the least. I do this and it helps:)

5. Squats and lunges tone and slim your thighs. About three sets of 50-100 squats and/or lunges a day.

And BTW, I'm Korean so I got this workout from a girl group in Korea and they're SUPER skinny yet unbelievably toned:

1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHSa583n8 for part 1. This is the leg workout I do and I lost 6 pounds in a month:) And if you read the English subtitles, the girl says that her legs are all muscle, no fat. This workout will help. I've been doing it and seeing results in a week! Remember: three sets of this workout to slim down thighs and calves.

For meal plans, you just need to follow this:

-Breakfast like a queen. Eat normally (NO GREASY FOODS like fried eggs, bacon, sausages, or processed foods like pancakes or waffles.) I'm Asian and I follow a strict diet of just rice, vegetables, and tofu every meal of every day.

-Lunch like a commoner. Eat one boiled egg, a bowl of broth or soup (NOT out of a can,) and water.

-Dinner like a hobo. A container of yogurt and milk.

TIPS:
-spicy foods speed up your metabolism so that it'll burn fat and carbs and calories super fast. I don't work out much, but like I said, I eat Asian food (which is full of spicy food) and I haven't had fat buildup in the 2 and a half years I haven't exercised properly.

-no snacks. If you need one, go with a cup of milk or a handful of almonds.

-don't eat ANYTHING, whether it's fruit or anything else, don't eat ANYTHING after 6:30 PM.

Every once a week, allow yourself one meal of SOME junk food. That way you can keep temptations at bay.

I know a girl that followed this advice and she lost 30 kilograms in just 200 days!

If you need anymore tips, I can email them to you:) just let me know!
