How do I get my new cat to come out from under the bed?

I just adopted a cat(they think she is a domestic shorthair but I'm positive she has some persian in her) and she won't come out from under my bed. I have the door closed to my bedroom and her litter box, food, and water are all in the closet. She comes out at night while I'm sleeping to get food and use the litter box. I know that I need to give her time but the thing is I don't think she is really used to people. She doesn't seem to be afraid, she actually seems quite content and happy under the bed, I'm just worried that she is so content there that she will never come out for people. She was a stray before brought into the shelter so I think she's not really used to human interaction. I try to give her a couple hours by herself then I go into the room and lay on the floor so she can see me for a little while. I've seen that some people say to sit with the cat so they get used to you, but I've also seen people say to ignore the cat until they want you. So what do you think I should do? Please help! Thank you!

Good observation! Sometimes this happens with rescue groups who aren't top notch. They don't observe their animals and they put them up for adoption when perhaps they should have gone into foster care for socialization.

First off, let me tell you that your cat is behaving normally. About 75 percent of the cats do the same thing. You may be ready to love it to bits but for all the cat knows you want to chop it to bits. Nobody knows what kind of past it had, what it had to endure as a stray, or what was done to it before it became a stray. So the process starts now, with you to teach it that a human doesn't mean violence or harm. You have to have lots of patience and if you run out go borrow some.

The cat is in a dark hole (under the bed) where it feels safe. So whatever you do, don't try to grab it and pull it out! In fact, make no grabs at the cat ever or you'll set back the earning trust part to square one. Someone said don't look the cat in the eyes. This is true. Why? In the cat world outside where it used to live a cat looks it in the eye it means, I'm here, I want to kill you, I want your mate or your food or your home. It's aggression. Look at the cat's nose or side of the face and blink slowly a few times. In the cat world that means, I'm here and I mean no harm. If the cat blinks back slowly, it got the message and is saying the same thing.

Lay on the floor or sit, read out loud from the paper or a book just sit and read. You are getting the cat used to your voice and that nothing bad will happen when it hears your voice. Have treats ready because if it comes out you're going to teach it only good things happen and treats are one of them. At this point you don't know if the cat even knows how to play with toys so a kitty teaser may look like a weapon. I wouldn't recommend waving one of those around yet. A long shoelace that you can drag and interest it might be better. I'll paste in some links for you. One of them is socialization of a feral; however, I don't think you have a feral cat you'd have known if it was in a carrier when you brought it home. If it hasn't been growling then not a feral and if it meows definitely not a feral but you might find helpful hints in the article.

Put the food out of the closet away from the litterbox and monitor how much food and water are being consumed. You can wear a shirt all weekend, sweat in it or sleep in it and then give it to the cat to sleep on under the bed because it will have your scent and she'll learn your scent means safety. Another way to bond with her. Very best of luck. A few weeks of bonding and a life time of love!

How much could I charge to rent out my house?

We live in North East North Carolina and may have to relocate for my husbands job. We don't want to sell the house until the housing market goes up so we are considering renting it out instead. It is 1800 sq ft 3 bedrooms, 2 and half baths. Master suite has large bathroom and large walk in closet. Attached garage, fenced in back yard. House is on about 1/8 acre. Brand new stainless steel appliances in kitchen. House was just finished being built in the beginning of November 2012. Will also leave our washer and dryer. Any help figuring out a reasonable price we could ask for our house would be appreciated.

The advice you got to check out craigslist is pretty good in my opinion. We own a home in Boone, NC that we have rented out for about 4+ years now. I've always used craigslist as my guide to find out what similar properties were renting for and set my rent accordingly. That has worked great for me.

If you're a new landlord be prepared to carefully check out whomever you decide to rent to. I've had to learn the hard way that great people in appearance can turn in to nightmare tenants. Check references no matter what! Also ask yourselves if you really want to be long distance landlords. I live about an hour from our rental and it can be a real pain if I need to take care of something suddenly. I can't imagine being hours away and dealing with problems long distance.

Renting it can be a great way to hang on to it and create a nice nest egg for yourselves but it can also be a huge headache. The additional income we have off the house has been a blessing but it has in no way been a free ride like I naively expected in the beginning. Being a landlord has been a real eye opener for me as to how some people live and do or don't take care of your property. If you're prepared for all of that you'll do great. If not..... well you may want to rethink selling and determine the pros and cons doing so.

I know this all didn't speak specifically to the price you can charge but I hope this gave you some guidance and info that will be helpful. Good luck to you!

What can i do to fix the heat in my apartment?

I live in a small 2 bedroom apt and my gas bill was 300 for the month... my thermostat is set to 68 degees but only gets to about 66. if i turn it up to 72, it reaches 70. Would a new thermostat do the trick? ive insulated the windows and under the doors too. Please help!!!

If the thermostat is mechanical then that may very well be part of the problem. I would l suggest replacing the thermostat with a digital (which they wont pay for) then depending on your skill level you need to clean the burners. But it sound like the first problem not getting to the right temp is faulted on the thermostat. Ive seen more crappy apartments thermostats that are bad then I care to remember. Just dont get the stat at wally world they are junk. You need to get one thats for gas electric, dual powered (means it takes batteries and your covered either way for power)
Get a honeywell or white rodgers stat and call it a day. Also, make sure your furnace filter is clean and not plugged up. The apartment placed typically only change them twice a year and use the cheapest filter know to man, the blue or geen mesh ones. Get a pleated one, they sell a three pack lowes or homedepot by natural air for like 9 bucks. they are decent for what they are and a million times better than probably whats in there., LOL

Ceiling Fan Installation where there is no exisiting fixture?

My husband and I would like to install a ceiling fan in our bedroom. Only problem is there is not an existing light fixture in the ceiling. Would this be expensive to have an electrician install all this? Before we set up any estimates I wanted to figure out if it was too expensive for us to consider.

Installing a ceiling fan is not too difficult, even if you don't have a fixture. A local, residential electrician should be able to take care of the wiring and set up for under $300.00. The will have to fish the wires, install a mounting box and possible a new box for switches to control the fan. I don't know of any way to do it cheaper unless your husband is a real handy man. If you like a suburban setting, Bollingbrook is a nice area. It is near Naperville and there is a lot going on there for the suburbanite. I am of the belief that the schools there are probably better than the schools closer to Chicago.

Ok, I want my story to take place in Chicago where the main characters live in a creepy, old apartment a few miles (but not in the ghetto/slums) away from the city. Is such a location possible in Chicago? And would it be on the south side of Chicago?

I recently wrote a piece where Chicago was the backdrop. I utilized wikipedia first and then jumped to the reference links at the bottom in order to get really specific. One thing I learned was that Chicago is a city. One single City and a small one at that. The trains are elevated and run in a loop around the city. Now the city has hotels and skyscrapers that have condos and apartments inside of them yet homes and neighborhoods are outside of Chicago.

--- Each of the neighborhoods have a history of immigrants of one type or another from Russian to Irish to Italian. Each history for each neighborhood plays a role in the construction of the city or some interesting events in the growth of the city. Migration is another mitigating factor, as the city grew people moved further into the surrounding suburban neighborhoods, Wicker Park for instance seemed to have an incredible boom of authors and artists and architects. To this day the homes are maintained and can be visited on a walking tour.
--- Granted depending on how long you've been writing you may not understand how these intricacies affect your story. My character is raised in a housing project 'the ghetto' however when she first moved there the neighborhood was actually built for middle class working families with cute small homes that were brand new. As more and more people needed cheaper housing the houses were redesigned and made into track housing and eventually a large apartment complex which became the infamous Cabrini Green. the track houses just across were the Robert Taylor projects. the entire neighborhood was prone to violence but was once for upwardly mobile families just starting out.
-- During my research I found that both projects have been completely obliterated as well as several of the loop trains that ran through those neighborhoods. I also found out that gang violence is more prevalant and that the Chicago Mobs are all about gone, which were both needed for my story so I had to go in a different direction.

--- As you go along draw yourself a map of the area you select. Millenium Mile is the shopping hall down the middle of Chicago. It is also surrounded by water which is why the temps are so cold. Illinois is the state and has several beltways that make travel from suburbia into Chicago easy. A large percentage of the buildings that have recently been built change hands often because of the high rents and the inability to find businesses able to move in and maintain their bottom line. Check the Black building Trump and Verizon towers I believe.
--- My brother lives in Evanston it is about 20 outside of Chicago he lives in a small one bedroom apartment in a well kept but old apartment building. It's sort of creepy to me because it's kind of like a railroad flat so it's pretty dim down the center.
--- Anyway you could always drop by a travel agency and get a pamphlet or the library and copy a few pages from a travel guide. To me those are the best because they give you tourist traps, restaurants, hotels, theatre, walking tours with maps, driving instructions (so major and minor roads) and break downs of all the areas and what they are most famous for and their biggest attractions.

I am just a roomate, so all i have is 1 bedroom set, and a couple of boxes. I also own a volkswagen jetta. I am moving from Orlando, FL to Los Angeles, CA. will it be better for me to ship my stuff and then drive my car to LA. or is it cheaper to get a uhaul truck and hitch my car to the back?

Using mapquest its roughly 2500 miles from Orlando to LA. So 2500 divided by 8 = 312 gallons. So at 4.00 per gallon you would be looking at 1250 in fuel.

For this long of a trip, I would only use the auto transport [car carrier] - My reason being that with all 4 tires off the ground it is much better on your Jetta, the tow dolly would only raise up the front 2 tires and the rear tires would just roll which would seriously wear your rear tires up.

How do I match up a bed frame to my headboard?

Recently I bought a bedroom set and it came with a headboard. The headboard supports a queen size bed. I had a full-size bed. If I find a good bed frame how can I know if it will attach? I guess they all come with something for connecting the frame to the headboard? I did find a bed frame at Wallmart but it it says it doesn't require the box spring. So, maybe it will be too high to connect onto the headboard.

You have to match the frame to the headboard. If you have a queen-sized headboard and a full-sized bed frame, the headboard will be too big. If you want to use it anyway, you will have to make some adapter brackets.

Can anyone tell me a type and size of small electric heater that is safe to use in medium sized bedroom?

I would like to buy a small electric heater to (help) heat a medium sized bedroom because the regular furnace in our house makes the room temperatures vary too much throughout the house.The heater has to be very safe and not use a lot of energy.Can you tell me a type and size of heater or brand name to buy?

I dont want it to use a lot of energy because there is a lot of electronics plugged in this room already and i dont want to overload anything.Thanks.

I really like using those sealed oil radiators. They take a little longer to heat up an area, but once they are warm, they dont use near the electricity of other types, and are much safer, too. As a radiator, they heat up the things around them (but not too hot) rather than heating the air, that just leaks out under the door and out the windows. They would be fine in a bedroom, I used one in my camper when I stayed in it for a week at a freinds house. It worked really well and kept it comfortable, even though it was cold outside. They usualy have three settings, too, so that after the oil inside it warms up, you can turn the power down, I think the low setting is 750 watts, thats like half of a hair dryer, Most of those other kinds use 1000 or 1500 watts. I just saw them at walmart for about 34.00, but thrift stores often have them. Thats where I got mine, for 8.00 I think. As you asked for ones that are safe and dont use a lot of power, I believe these best fit the bill. Anything that blows air with a fan, or has a wire element that glows, will really affect your power bill, believe me I have tried all of them. The oil heaters arent immediatly effective, its true, but you can just leave them turned on, on the low setting, and after a few hours, the room will be nice and warm., and will stay more evenly warm. as for safeness, none are better, nothing on it gets red hot, like the element kind. and they dont dry out the air, like air heaters.

Anyways, you can rent a decent (not a first rate hotel, but clean and safe) hotel room in downtown Mexico City for about $700 pesos per week, but that's with a shared bath. It also includes free internet in the lobby and a safe for your things. You can get a room w/bath for about $1,000 pesos per week. It really depends on what you want. There are many hotels in the Centro Historico (Downtown) which is close to many sights and things to see and do.

As for the cost of daily living: A ride on the Metro subway system costs $2.00 pesos (less than $0.20 US cents), a short taxi ride costs about $20 pesos, a bus costs about 3-4 pesos in the DF.

This set includes 1 upright dresser, 1 long dresser w/attached mirror, headboard, and a nightstand. It dates to 1970 as it still has the furniture store's delivery slip to the customer on the back of the mirror. The mirror itself btw has a copyright stamp of "Thomasville 1969" Sorry i didn't take any photos of the set. It looks great and something you would find at the "Brady Bunch" house lol. They are wanting $349.00 Is that a bargain?

Julie and John have been together in an extremely unhealthy relationship, and about a year into their relationship they both quit their jobs to open a local produce stand, John owns it, and Julie manages it with no rights to the business. I also worked there under the table for a year, until last November when the store unexpectedly closed for the winter.
Last August-September, Julie decided to move herself and I to Johns house, in a completely different city around 20-30 miles away, but i continued my high school education in my home town. John’s house only had one bedroom, and Julie paid him 800 dollars/month in rent, more than the two bedroom place in my home town cost. Anyways, I put up with it until this recent April/May, when Julie and John's drinking (both being alcoholics) got worse and worse, I started talking to my school counselor about what was going on, especially as John was getting physically abusive with Julie.
I had made plans to move out and live with friends of my family, with the help of my extended family (Aunt, Uncle, Grandma, 22 y/o Sister), In May, I had set a moving day (a Saturday), and informed Julie and John of my intentions. On the Thursday of that week, i showed up to work after school, and Julie was completely drunk, which wasn't unusual. I texted my aunt that i didn't feel safe riding home with her, but we didn't take action until Julie, while driving home, almost wrecked on a 55mph highway, and then acted like nothing happened, then rolled up the windows and lit a cigarettes, refusing to roll the windows down, so I grabbed her pack of cigarettes and threw them out the passenger side window, and rolling the window down would have been pointless since the smoke would have blown in my face. After she realized I threw them out the window (approximately five minutes later), she hit me in the face, also not unusual. I took the keys out of the ignition and steered the car to the side of the road so i could get out. After exiting the car, I called my aunt with the license plate number; she was reported to the Washington State Patrol. Around five minutes later Julie drove back up and offered me a ride. I informed her that the WSP were on their way, and got in the car, when we got to John's house, about five WSP cars pulled up and talked to her and I separately, she was given a breathalyzer test, and arrested soon-after. I stayed with the family-friends three days earlier than planned.
CPS (Child Protective Services) had been called weeks earlier to investigate a separate alcohol related event, after they heard about the DUI (Driving Under the Influence), they were very intent on making long term plans. With the DUI, she may be required to go into alcoholic rehabilitation.
The main problem is this, Julie owes me around $5,900-6,000, and she promised that she'd pay it back by the sixth of August (my 16th birthday). Nobody believes she'll pay it back, including the CPS lady; even I am sketchy, so I need to know what options I have to get the money back, only some of the money would be provable, and reasoning with a severe alcoholic is not possible, as some of you may know. The money was borrowed/split-up like this; $3780 Signed over 4-H checks (traceable) at ages 8-13, $341 Miscellaneous small amounts, $410 from Drivers Ed, $765 Lunch Money, $300 Cloths, $125 for a cell phone that she was supposed to buy. She has agreed to pay all of this back, but I need to know what options I have for when she doesn’t.

Legally, all of a minor's belongings do not belong to the minor, but to the parent. This includes money, whether it was as a gift or wages.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth. You have no legal way to force your mother to repay this money. You can only hope that she will feel guilty about it, and from what you say, she doesn't.

My landlord convinced I'm smoking in my townhouse and showing up with wife at 10 AM to "prove it"?

So this douche bag came in to remove things from the attic of my town home. I rent it from him, it's mine yet he insisted on putting a lock on the attic and storing his items. I smoke outside and I signed a lease that says no smoking inside. My close neighbors across the walkway smoke outside too. They swear that my place doesn't smell like smoke but those who are hypersensitive can smell it 30 or more feet away (thus the 25 and 50 ft from entry way laws here in Washington). I never told the guy I smoked because he didn't like me from the beginning and I don't tell people I do business with anything that they don't need to know.

The bottom line is that I have a horribly messy bedroom and have just tonight to get it cleaned up (clutter cleared) and in addition, my little dog took a pee on the unsealed cork board floor (that's right, this guy rents to people with pets yet doesn't seal floors and installs butcher block counter tops that are also unsealed). Outside of this, he's annoying as all get out. He wants the rent before the due date because he's mortgaged to the hilt and barely works in his "real" job (trust me, no disrespect - owning and managing property is a huge job with little to no profit for most).

1. I did break the lease because I have a cat. The lady that used to live next door? Had 3 random dogs at her place at any given time. That said, he knows about my dog but I'm going to stash the cat at a friends in the morning)
2. I'm no housekeeper. I'm a procrastinator from the word go. Until I fear gnats, the trash waits to go out so there are about 100 water bottles, paper plates, pizza boxes and a broken dresser in my bedroom.
3. Since the cork board floors are unsealed, some damage has been done by the dog. I know he can charge me for this (as well he should) when I leave but I am in fear that he will try to lecture me (he is a moral relativist - drinking good, smoking bad, obama good, global warming is real etc.) I think I can get it covered with a rug until he leaves unless he wants to go extra nosy which I'm pretty sure of.

The main point is - I can kill myself staying up all night, praying I can bust my butt enough to get everything pretty close to spotless or I can just set a limit to what sort of b.s. I'm willing to put up with. I don' t like people with agendas coming in to poke around anyway and that's what he's doing. There is no smoking - is his proof his sniff test and if he smells it on my jacket I'm out?

Do I bust my butt to make things as perfect as possible or just accept that no matter what I do, he'll find what he's looking for to chastise, judge and berate me in front of his wife all while costing me over 800 dollars of billable hours I could be spending working?

What is the proof of smoking? There is no residue (incense maybe), no ashtrays, no smell, no nothing other than what might be on my clothing which is MY CLOTHING! If it said "no smoking on premises, I'd understand.

Do you think this is a witch hunt to get me out or am I over-thinking the busy body motives of a programmed apologist for the state? Someone who believes that regulation and laws are what makes our country great other than one who believes in making fair deals and living by the constitution?

I hate moving but if he steals the 4k he has on deposit, pre-paid rents and other things, he'd be doing me a favor by kicking me out. But will he? This is a soft market and an expensive place. I am still under lease mind you.

Hi GEGE- Guess what? He found his proof but can't do squat because it's FAKE PROOF. A cigarette butt outside isn't proff of smoking inside so he's living with it. I sledgehammered him and I can stay or I can break the lease. I'm probably bailing. he's too (the no prize stuff like me mentioned above except I PAY MONTHS OF RENT IN ADVANCE TO HELP BROKE LANDLORDS). Tyvm for being rude yet having a point about it.

He gave you proper notice that he was going inside to inspect your unit and he has every legal right to do so. You think he's a douche bag because he wants to protect his property & insure you are abiding by the lease? Routine inspections are normal and every landlord should be performing them on a regular basis.

If you aren't smoking inside, you have nothing to worry about other than the damage your dog has done. If he finds out about the cat (and he will), he could evict you for a lease violation.

Where can I find a corner bedroom group, circa 1976?

I am looking for a corner bedroom set, like the one that my sister and I had in the late 70's. There are two twin beds which each bump up against a corner table unit. They came with fitted covers and back bolster cushions that when on the beds, made them look like sofas. Our corner table had enough space for one of the beds to slide 1/2 way underneath, to allow for more space in our room. It also had an AM/FM radio - woo hoo!

I have searched and searched on-line but have not found anything that even closely resembles this retro bedroom set. Thanks to anyone who can help!

It dates to 1970 as it still has the furniture store's delivery slip to the customer on the back of the mirror. The mirror itself btw has a copyright stamp of "Thomasville 1969" Sorry i didn't take any photos of the set. It looks great and something you would find at the "Brady Bunch" house lol. what are good ways to make my room more homey?

my room is rather large, but seems very dull and lifeless compared to the bedrooms of my friends. I'm really not sure what it is about them that makes them seem so cozy, but im dying to have my room be cozy and homey. Any decoration suggestions?
p.s. painting my walls are out of the question, they are already a sea foam pearl (blue/green) color.

Photos of you with your friends and family. Also, large nonflowering plants and other wall hangings and find a small, very soft rug with alot of colors that you like and tassles around the edges. Also, you could go to an "Earthbound" or some other funky foreign stuff store and pick one thingy, religious icon or statue of an animal and set it up as the mascot of your room. Do go by the Yankee candle and pick a signature scent for your room. Think about it. You will figure something out.

It would be nice to have some more details about what you are looking to do in Mexico City.

Anyways, you can rent a decent (not a first rate hotel, but clean and safe) hotel room in downtown Mexico City for about $700 pesos per week, but that's with a shared bath. It also includes free internet in the lobby and a safe for your things. You can get a room w/bath for about $1,000 pesos per week. It really depends on what you want. There are many hotels in the Centro Historico (Downtown) which is close to many sights and things to see and do.

Yes, there's human flu in Mexico. It's also in the US and now it's in many other countries.

As for the cost of daily living: A ride on the Metro subway system costs $2.00 pesos (less than $0.20 US cents), a short taxi ride costs about $20 pesos, a bus costs about 3-4 pesos in the DF.

A tour of the city by Turibus costs about $150 pesos for all day.

Food: A tamale and a cup of atole (a steaming hot rice drink, often Chocolate or strawberry flavored) costs about 15 pesos. There's your breakfast. How expensive is it to live in LA?

I'm going to college next year, most likely in LA at FIDM. But i'm just so scared because I know its expensive out there and i'm coming all the way from Indiana. I don't know anybody out there either. It all just sounds so far fetched and impossible, but if i want to make it in the field its basically either LA or NYC. So, whats the cheapest part of LA that's not terribly dangerous? Could I get an apartment for less that $1000 or is that just like impossible?

Live in the FIDM housing at first, preferably right near the campus (rather than Park LaBrea, unless you don't mind the commute and like the area), then see if you meet anyone to roommate with, or find a studio apartment to live by yourself. The FIDM apartments are actually good deals for an LA furnished apartment with utilities included, and while downtown LA isn't the best place to live, the FIDM apartments are nice, and very convenient to FIDM. Look on the FIDM website for info.

It is also very convenient to have an apartment all ready for you, setting up an apartment is a lot if work, first, you'd have to find a landlord willing to rent to someone under 21, with no credit or rental history, no substantial job, and parents across the country. Then you'd have to buy furniture, furnished apartments rent for quite a bit more, even close to double unfurnished, and they're hard to find in low end buildings, set up utilities and deposits, buy household goods (pots, pans, towels, etc). It's a lot of work.

The cost for FIDM apartments is $300 a week ($3000 for the 10 week Quarter) for a shared bedroom, $600 for a private bedroom. This will give you time to figure out the best area to live should you decide to move. Low crime areas are a bit far from FIDM, if you don't have a car, it might be a hassle, since you will likely be working on group projects late night at FIDM, and it's not a good idea to take public transportation late at night.

You can find a studio in LA starting at $800 (more on the Westside), but you might not like it or the area, you might have to spend $1000 for a studio you're ok with, or find a roommate and a 2 bedroom, which likely won't save much on rent. Lower crime areas relatively close to FIDM include Glendale and South Pasadena, but the commute takes 20 minutes, or longer in traffic.

Im going to be in grade eight and im moving into a new house. My bedroom will be themed black and white. Is there a color that would be a good accent for my themed ones? What are some decorating ideas, or things i could buy for it?

Black and white with an accent color is one of the easiest themes to pull off. What I usually suggest is black & white plus your favorite color (two or three shades of the color - maximum). If I were doing this for me, I'd pick teal or turquoise or a royal blue as those are my favorites :) and I'd go with a black & white patterned bedding - just NOT zebra print as I feel it has been done to death in recent years.

Pick black or white for your furniture or go for a dark wood.

Wall color could be a light to medium gray OR a light to medium shade of your third color. If you use gray for the walls, then use your third color for accent pieces like curtains, throws or pillows. If you use a darker shade of paint, then use mainly lighter shades of the same color for your accents with maybe one item the same shade as the paint. If you use a lighter shade of paint, then do the reverse.

With a black & white themed bedroom you can use black, white or silver toned frames for your posters/pictures. For my bedroom, i'm set on the idea of one wall being Zebra print. I've begged my mother to let me do this for years, and she's finally said yes. I was willing to paint it myself, but now that i've thought about it it's just too hard of a job. Would this be a really expensive task?

Expensive? Yep, though it depends on your standards, I guess.

It's going to run you at least $20/hr [maybe 40], and if it's a very big wall, could take 2 days or more.

Why not paint it white, then 'draw' the stripes using blue masking tape. You can peel it off and reposition it until you get it right, and you aren't committed to anything until you have a good idea what it will look like.

One good website to see is Ebay india. They have loads of accessories and furniture that are very Indian. Once you get an idea, you can try to find the same here in US. Also Dipali (deepali) emporium is a good source to find indian stuff.
In places like Pier 1 imports you can find Indian style vases and decorative elements like statues of elephants and buddha(he was an Indian not east asian like most ppl think) which u can use to decorate your place. I am confused as to how u can use a loft bed in a traditional bedroom with computer and all. It will be a mismatch according to me. In an Indian bedroom you can use a regular bed with beddings in the color of reds, yellows and maroons. Throw loads of shams and pillows in bright colors on your bed. You can color the walls a hue of orange in an earth tone. Have heavy brocade curtains in the color of bed covers or other accessories. You can make use of your dresser to display various decorative elements like vases etc. A colorful chandelier or a hurricane style electric lamp in a bright color(which ever you have chosen as your primary color) will add to the richness of the room. Flat screen tv can be mounted on the wall instead of placed on a stand. Your floor length mirror can be placed in a corner with some colorful rice paper lanterns hanging on its side. Only thing I cannot visualise in the room is your loft bed with work space below. If it can be separated you can use the bed as a reg bed and have a small dark wood work desk for your PC in a corner of the room. Maybe you can transfer it altogether to another room if thats possible. You can use lots of candles to accessorize too.

im really used to going to bed at like 1:00-2:00am so how whats a way to get tired enough to go at like 10:00pm to wake up early for school?

I start school tomorrow too! Nervous! Know how you feel. The trick is to make yourself want to go to sleep.
IDEA: Scrub the toilets, mop the floor, dust every peice of furniture, weed the garden (might be hard if it's dark i suppose), wash the dishes, do the ironong (socks included!) tidy every single corner of your bedroom etc without stopping for a breather then you'll be tired out and WANT to go to sleep so you don't have to do the rest of the house! (And mum will wake up with a smile at her clean home).
IDEA: spend 20 mins visualising a hard, long day at work at a coal mine, or at a child labour camp in India where your fingers ache, your feet have blisters and you're exhausted you can't wait to close your eyes for precious hours.
IDEA: Run yourself to exaustion.
IDEA: google reaxation and/or meditation
DON'T: read or watch TV. you get too preoccupied with the plot and your mind stays active.
DON'T eat or drink foods with sugar or caffine (duh!)

I think that I am developing Schizophrenia. I am 16 years old and a boy.

I have been making a list of things over the weeks but I cant dinf it. I will try to remember some of that I put on it. I am one of the smaartest people in Connecticut according to me state standardized thest, I got a 1583/1600. but now I am going crazy,

I kkep making spelling mistakes, you can see, I am tryping slow to avoid not to, I wont change any of them..I cant formulate sentences and keep putting in wrong words, I cannot tell if things are dreams or real, like I wake up or later in the day, and I do not know wheter the thing happened or not. I also imagine things happening, liek one thing Is aw smeeled like chocolate or when at night some bockxes n my bedroom were about to morph and attack me but thy stopped when I yelled, I see laser lights on my second foloor rooms floor and my mom almost stiff armoed me when I was walking but dhe sis not or I see my cat walking and it is not there when I focus on it.

I cannot concentrate, which is affecting my grades and tessts, I am an high honor student, and I got a c in math and I dont care. I dont care about college serarching and im a junior in High school. I cnnot condentrate in class ever I just zone out, but Inam smart enought to do everything on the test andstill get an aplus/ I never study becuse I acnntot do itm I an not dyslexic and nto changing anything in this letter. I am not studying for the SAT even though I need to since the questions are stupid and I cant rely on basic knowledge, there are huge rewards for me if I do well too, from my family.

I dont care about seeing friends, I see them at school, so at home I sit alone allday and do nothing. Now though I avoid my friends too, I go to the bathroom in the morning and stand in a stall for 15 minutes until the bell for class rings. I ddid not want ski lessons because I did not want to meet the instrcuctor.

I forget thigns really fast and even important things like science labs that are due and stuff, like I remember now that I was panning to write this letter for three weeks, four different times, but quickly forgot, even infromt of my computer.

I ave been feeling unstable and have had a lot of vertigo lately, espceilly when its quitert quiet. I type a lot of words twice when I am wrting school papers. I have no emotions at all sometimes, like I dont care about a lot of stuff and I get bored super fast and dont care about stuff I used to like, like im a black belt in taekwondo and hapkido and I am getting more and more uncoordinated and haviung more unbalanced. I find almost nothing fun anymore except coin collecting, but I have spent about 500 dollars on ebay with bill me later, and I have no Idea how I will repay it. on coins. I jave no goals right now, I set some for new yars with my dad but they dont mean anything to me wheter I complete them. I never want to do anything, like play with my younger brother and have never done any drugs and dont drink because I dont go to parties. My emotions dont make sense, they are inappropriate, like I had to not burst out laughing when my mom was crying because she hit her head.

I do a lot of meaningless things like fling my arms around and yell jibberish and go places for no reason. I repeat myself under my breath and dont notice at all when I do it, but my friends say I alswasy do. I replay or create conversations in my head and sometimes dont realize im actually saying them or doing them. I sleep walk sometimes with a lot of evidence like lights on mouthguard out, etc. I am despressed and think about going to school and killing a lot of people like columbine and and am also easily agitated, especially over strange things like poeple crunching food too loud and normaly things. Id ont have a lot of friends, a bunch of friends of friends and poeple who sit atthe lunch table and like 4 close firends. I have a growing lack on insight and fail to see easy things in books and stuff in my honors english so I dont get th e story. I do not understand simple things sometimes, like I dont even know like somthingI am compulsive about the organization of my coin collection and the magazines on ther tble enext to the couch. Sometimes hhae I have though blocking, it is commong but I do not beliebe that people steal my thoughs, I just stop talking and dforget what Iw awas tlalking about.

I have a crush that I have had for 7 months now and am crazy about her but she is too young but hot and popular, she is the only girl I would pursue, and I have a fetish, and I have had numerous girls who are into me but have no interest at all in pursueing the relation ship to a sexual state even though I want to have sex, I would rape someone first, envision myself doing it sometiems I do.

I have made up new words like mediucal tersm like tetaniutus, a combination of diseases. I misread a lot fo words, I have to shorten this, maybe it is early so I can detect my symtoms with knowledge

Schizophrenia is a serious medical condition that can only be diagnosed by a Psychiatrist. If you think you have Schizophrenia, then you should get on meds as soon as possible. Go to your doctor and have him refer you to a psychiatrist in your area to find out for sure.

Need help with some cheap vacation ideas?

My husband and I have been saving our loose change (anything that's a five and under) in a tin for a while and we now have a little over $500 dollars saved and we want to go on a vacation with it. We want to vacation in the south east (FL, TN, GA, AL), we wouldn't be able to leave for an other 3-4 weeks and we'd like something that last 4-7 days. Does anyone know of a cheap vacation in the south east? Preferably something that is all inclusive and that's no more then $500 or $600 for two people. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

500 isn't very much, you'd have a hard time finding even a basic hotel for 500 a weak.
not to worry, there are a few thing you can be if your creative though.
now I'm not sure what your into but I have some ideas I shall list in order from awesome to adventurous.
how would your feal about free tickets to an event , 3 very High quality meals a day, also free, free lodging, and endless like-minded friends.
if that's in your wheelhouse, well then you my friend are an ideal candidate for a vol-cation. they work like this, find something you both like a music festival, NASCAR race, or any number of lifestyle festival that normally charge a ton of money to get in. most of them will let you in free and do everything else outlined above if you volunteer for a set amount of time.
now me personally I don't like music that much so after I'm done eating I just go site see around the area. it a boatload of fun!
the only thing I pay is gas and toll. the one I go to is in the summer but that's mostly cause it in new England where it cold. they have them all times of the year down south.

now this next one may sound unsafe due to a fictional movie off the same name, but you could stay in a hostel for $20 per night per person an most of the time get a meal or 2 or 3 included free. I've know many a folk that's stayed in a hostel and non had any trouble. you could also go from hostel to hostel and make it a road trip. my experience is that there clean, safe, and convenient

why we'll talking about road trips every one know that Amtrak can be a really slow whey to get around.
but you can use that to your advantage on a road trip by eliminating the need for a hotel room.
Amtrak Bedroom Suite's come with as many as 2 bathrooms to a suite(with showers). just find a city 8 or 10 hours away and leaving about your bed time and sleep there. meals are also included.


now if that does not tickle your funny bone, find and park(preferably one with no lights) and sleep in your trunk I love sleeping in my trunk its very cozy, like sleeping in a cocoon. might be a shave tight with 2 people, don't know I never tried it. drain pipes and under bridges can also be quite adventurous, there cool because most of the time no one will care if you build a fire why your in there, can't do that in a hotel!

Need some easy decorating ideas for a Master Bedroom?

We have an older four poster oak bedroom set-its sturdy and well made and I just cant bring myself to get rid of it. I would really love to spice up my bedroom decor but cant figure out what would go well with the brown oak "country style" bedroom set. Im more into a contemporary or eclectic look now and I need help with some options...thanks.

I had a Lane bedroom set. It was solid oak and gorgeous. It had a canopy bed, triple dresser, armoire and two nightstands. I had that set for at least 30 years and it looked like new.

But times and tastes change and I wanted something more modern or at least "different".

Trust me, nothing you do to that "country style" set is going to satisfy you if your taste has changed. Bite the bullet and let it go. I sold my old set reasonably to someone that loved it as much as I did when it was new so I knew it went to a good home.

I then bought a new set that is just what I wanted at this point in my life. I don't go for the "sturdy, well made" (translated "really expensive") stuff anymore (I'm not talking about buying junk either, I got my new set at Ashley) because then you have it forever and get tired of it. If you take good care of whatever you buy it will last you for as long as you love it. Then, when you don't "love it" anymore you won't feel so bad to let it go.

Life is short, you deserve to have what makes you happy today!!

Edited: I work for a store that sells furniture wholesale and I update their catalogs. Believe me when I tell you that if you paint the "country" furniture black, it's going to look like black "country" furniture (I see hundreds of sets of black "country" furniture). Country is country is country. If you try to put modern stuff in, on and around your "country" stuff, it's going to scream "she's trying not to look country, but it's country with modern stuff". It won't go. I had country decorating in my home. My husband bought me a baby grand piano. When they bought it in and set it down amidst my "country" stuff, you could almost hear the piano saying "What's all this stuff?" I had to change my decor to go with the piano (much more sophistocated victorian). Modern stuff has clean lines and there is no way to make country stuff look modern.

I'll say it again, life is short, get what you really want and enjoy it.
