What are some colors or ideas that i can paint and decorate my bedroom with?

Q. I need 2 main colors for my room and i can't think of any cool designs either. I am a 15 year old girl and i like funky things and cool things really. I was thinking maybe Eiffel Tower or New York Yankees? Idk. If you have any ideas please let me know! (:

A. When doing a room you need to start with the focal point which is normally the bed. Find a duvet for your comforter or a new bedding set and everything else will fall into place easily.

How much money would someone typically need to get set up in New York?
Q. If you wanted to move to New York City how much money would you typically need to have to get a decent enough place and get set up there? In what areas could you find cheaper but decent apartments or homes in safe neighborhoods?

A. Lots and lots. We here in the city are not all rich as I'm sure you know but it does cost more than what you may be expecting. I'm not sure what you mean by decent so I'll assume you're by yourself and would what a one bedroom apartment in a safe area. If that's the case then Astoria in Queens is a good place to start. Typical apartments out there go for 1000-1500 a month. If you have a car then gas is about 4 a gallon. Since you'll be in city you would have a hard time driving and getting parking space so you will most likely ride the subways. A metrocard (your ticket to ride so to speak) will cost you 2 dollars one way. It's better to have an unlimited which costs 81 for a monthly, 45 for two weeks and 25 for a weekly. Utilities vary by building but you will most likely have a cable bill which can go for around 100, electricity bill which is different by building but will be anywhere from 60 to 200 in some places; a phone bill which can be like 40 to 50 and then your luxury bills like cell phones and internet. Then you have you groceries but that depends on you and then what ever else you'll need to live your life like your toiletries and then your entertainment needs. In other words it's a lot so start saving and good luck.

How much would it run me to live in New York in the smallest one bedroom apartment?
Q. So I really want to just move to New York IN THE SMALLEST ONE BEDRROOM and be happy but i was wondering what should i do about maybe a job, and somwhere to stay for like cheap thats not that that bad. How much would everything run me? SOMEONE FROM NEW YORK PLEASE HELP ME.....:)

A. Okay, by smallest one-bedroom do you mean your own apartment? Because there are large apartments with up to 15 bedrooms in Chinatown that go for around $750 per bedroom (you share a bathroom, kitchen, etc). Also, there are "studio/loft" apartments, which don't have a separate bedroom. A cheap studio will set you back around $1300. A cheap REAL one-bedroom apartment, you're looking at around $1800-$2000.

Outside Manhattan, you can live comfortably for around $700 (Brooklyn, Queens, Jersey, etc)

This is all not including electricity, water, heat, a/c, internet, cable, laundry, etc. Your best bet would be to find a roommate, because two can live as cheaply as one.

Luxury Apartments or Town Homes in el paso Texas?

Q. My husband is currently in the Army, and we are being PCS'd to Fort Bliss El Paso Texas. We are expecting our first child, so we are looking for move into a town home or luxury apartment, 2-3 bedrooms, nothing more then 1100 a month. We prefer a place that is newer, with good reviews. Can anyone help??

A. My name is Nichole Williams-Dixon! My husband and I are moving to El Paso Tx on April 24th 2011. We are moving to this Military commuity called Van Horne Estates. It is a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment 980 square feet for $795.00 a month. This is brand new and is 10 minutes away from Fort Bliss. They also have allotments so they can split the rent up in 2 payments 1st and 15th.

My husabnd and I are comming from a 4 bedroom house in Georgia so everything is going in storage. This community has a swimming pool, kids playground, tennis court and other amentites. It is an all Military!

what you have to understand is that we have access to the base, so many of your amentites are there and you don't have to get that in an apartment

Below is the correspondance that I was sent: You can call me at 678-431-7412

Hi Nicole,

It was a pleasure speaking with you this Morning! Here is the info we talked about. Like I said we do specialize in Military housing. One major perk that we offer is that we will set up an allotment for you, which means you never have to worry about late fees and instead of having to write one big check the first of every month, your rent will be taken out of your husbands paycheck half on the 15th and half on the 1st which makes for easier budgeting.

We are a brand new community currently being developed and we are now pre-leasing for the end of May and later. So you would be the very first person to live in your new apartment. Brand new carpet, appliances, everything! Our 2 bedroom 1 bath apartments start at $795 - $805 a month. These 2 bedroom apartments are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, the price difference is because the $795 homes are on the interior and $805 are the exterior apartments (corner apartments) which means a little more privacy and some extra windows. Our 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor are $860 for an interior apartment and $870 for the exterior apartments. There are washer and dryer connections on ALL 1st floor apartments and laundry facilities on the 1st and 3rd floor of each building. We will pay for your water, sewer and trash leaving you only with the electric!

The community itself will have two parks complete with picnic areas, BBQ grills and Playground areas. We will also have a volleyball swimming pool for the HOT summer days :) We are a pet friendly community! We do have some breed and weight restrictions but your Maltese would be more than welcome with us. We do ask for a non-refundable pet registration fee for EACH pet of $300 and a $30 a month pet fee added to your monthly rent.

We DO have a website, here you can view photos of our property under construction, what our apartments will look like once completed and also download all of the necessary Pre-Lease Paperwork. To Pre-Lease all you would need is to apply with the $25 application fee and a Pre-Lease fee of $200 would hold the apartment for you: VanHorneEstates!

The security deposit ranges from $99 to One Months Rent, and that is based on a combination of your employment, rental and credit history.

I would also like to mention that we do require all residents to have renters insurance to protect your personal belongings and to protect all of our residents. We can provide it for you or you have the option of adding that to your current insurance policy or through USAA.

I know size and storing your household goods is a concern, so here is also the link to the Storage facility just up the street from our community. Like I said, they provide our residents with one month free rent and offer great military discounts, http://www.suncity-selfstorage.com/. Please feel free to call me or email me anytime with questions about our community, the post or El Paso :)

Sincere Thanks,

Whats a good place to look for baby furniture?

Q. I want it to be like a bedroom set, so a crib and a changing table and dresser in the same style and color. I know babies r us and pottery barn and ikea. Do you know any other places where you can get cribs and changing tables and stuff like that?

A. Walmart!! I did both my babies shopping there!! I got a beautiful dresser changing table and crib for much cheaper than in any other store!!

How can I organize my room with a new bedroom set?
Q. i am getting a new bed room set so i need to organize my stuff. With under the bed storage what can i use?? Something cheap. And Where can i get one of those cheep temp. things that tell what the outside temp is? btw im a teen girl thanks!

A. you need to buy bed risers. They will give you the storage space you need. Ty walmart or target to get the best deal and try to go there instead of ordering online that will also save you shipping cash. Look on ebay for the checking of the outside temperature tool. God bless!

How much does a baby initially cost?
Q. Like, to start off buying all the supplies...crib, changing table, dresser, diapers, clothes, bath stuff, first aid, maternity clothes, decorate the babies room..etc.

we dont need insurance money..my husband is military.
im thinking around 4,000? the bedroom set i found was 1200...
Yeah, I like Walmart ones too. I also want one of the changing tables that have the bookshelf thing..they look like a china cabinet sort of thing? Do you know what Im talking about?

A. Around $1500-and I have nice stuff. A bedroom set for 1200? The crib I have is from Walmart and was $150 and is really nice. Its all on what you really want I guess. A lot of things aren't necessary.

EDIT:

I just wanted to add a few things:
My little girl doesn't have a dresser as she has a closet in her bedroom for storage and to hang up clothes.
The only furniture we have is a Crib, as a bassinet and changing table also were unnecessary.
We don't have a monitor, as I won't ever be far away from my daughter.
Diaper pails are a total waste of money-do diapers really need their own garbage? No.
We don't have a swing or a bouncer-cute, but not necessary. We do have a high chair that was $90 from Target that was a gift that she can sit in if she needs to.
The travel system I bought was from babiesrus.com and it was $200 and VERY good quality.
The only crib bedding we have is a waterproof mattress pad and a couple sheets, as they don't suggest anything in the crib anymore due to SIDS risk, so that is a big money saver.

Also-Thrift stores/consignment shops are nice for clothing, but don't buy used furniture or anything else there unless you absolutely know its safe.

We received a playpen as a gift and they are nice to have-the one I received was about $70.

I also signed up for coupons at baby product websites-they really help.

Can I paint my bedroom set & if so how?
Q. My husband & I recently bought a bedroom set off of Ebay. And while it isn't exactly our style we've decided to make due with it. I would however like to darken in up a bit using paint. The set includes a headboard, long dresser, two mirrors and tall chest/armoire. The problem is that the set is made of half wood and half plastic. Odd! I know. The plastic decorative parts cannot be removed. Can I paint this set? Prime and spray paint it perhaps? And if so, what kind of paint do I use? Thanks in advance.

A. My hubby and I have painted veneer furniture to make it look for modern contemporary. Here is how we do it. First lightly sand. Then spray with that spray primer that looks terra cotta colored. After that is dry spray with flat black paint. Start at the edges making them dark and work your way toward the middle so that a little bit of the primer shows through. Let dry a little bit and then spray with a polyurathane varnish either in matt or gloss. While the poly is still wet lightly, very lightly brush with the grain back and forth to make it look a little like wood grain. It will be dark but a little lighter toward the middle parts of each peace. Go to some furniture stores and look at some of the dark wood peices to see what I mean.

Also I did this to a dresser that we use in our office. It is a piece from the '70s an very contemporary in style. It was already a medium colored wood but I applied a darker stain with a rag and let dry. Took a while though. After that I took another lighter stain and a rounded brush and dabbed the stain on. I would kinda swish the brush to give it a mottled /burled look. We have gotten a lot of complements on how pretty it is. Experiement, you never know what you will come up with

Is there an Italian tradition about not ever replacing your wedding day bedroom set?
Q. My husband is Italian and for our wedding gift his parents bought us this huge bedroom set, well we have had it several years and the home we are moving into will not hold this big furniture. I want to sell it and buy more updated smaller things, he says it is bad luck and an Italian tradition to keep this first marriage set. Is this true, or some line of crap he's trying to pull not to upset Mommy?

A. I'm Italian too, and I never heard about such a tradition. Probably your hubby is just making this up because he doesn't want his parents to feel offended when they'll come to visit you in your new home and won't see the furniture they bought for you two...

Ceiling Fan Installation where there is no exisiting fixture?

Q. My husband and I would like to install a ceiling fan in our bedroom. Only problem is there is not an existing light fixture in the ceiling. Would this be expensive to have an electrician install all this? Before we set up any estimates I wanted to figure out if it was too expensive for us to consider.

A. Installing a ceiling fan is not too difficult, even if you don't have a fixture. A local, residential electrician should be able to take care of the wiring and set up for under $300.00. The will have to fish the wires, install a mounting box and possible a new box for switches to control the fan. I don't know of any way to do it cheaper unless your husband is a real handy man. Check out http://www.ceilingfantasia.com for ceiling fan reviews, guides and more. They have some really cool stuff on there.

My family room carpet is filthy. I wanna get it professionally steamcleaned, will it help at all ?
Q. When I mean filthy it is very dirty. I'm just wondering can a rug be so dirty that a professional steamclean won't help at all ? If it helps even just a little, I will get it done.

A. I just had my rugs professionally done today and it made a really huge difference. ! The carpet smells clean and fresh and all the stains came out.. .I'm getting a few cans of scothguard tomorrow and spraying the high traffic areas so they don't stain so badly ! I had 2 bedrooms/ 1 set of stairs and a hallway a livingroom/diningroom combo done and it cost under $160 it would've been an additional $40 to have stainguard and some other "treatment" done.. Stanley Steamer's quote was roughly $400 + gas... A local "green" family outfit was around $250-$300... So, I think we did all right.. Call around and get some estimates... It really does help.. I've rented a steamer and it's ok but, not as good... Good luck

What are some good series of books for young adults?

Q. I like books with action, romance, and I like it to be about people close to my age which is 14. I also don't feel like reading a book that is too realistic. I have already read twilight, harry potter, the clique, maximum ride, unfortunate events series, the luxe, and I think that's it. So what are some books that are really good for you? oh yeah, I don't want any vampire series recommendations, I have read too much about vampires!

A. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: Set in the future in a country that requires two kids from each of its twelve districts to be sent into an arena to compete in the Hunger Games. To lose is to die and there can be only one winner. Katniss volunteers to go in place of her younger sister with no hope of ever coming home. A very suspenseful, deep, thought-provoking story.

Peeps by Scott Westerfeld: a vampire story, but not. Vampirism in this book is an STD that turns you into a flesh-eating beast.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray: Gemma is sent to a boarding school after her mother's death where she learns about a very dark and dangerous power that she has.

Beastly by Alex Flinn: a modern day Beauty and the Best with a twist.

The Mediator by Meg Cabot: Suze is a girl who can see ghosts and consequently falls in love with the very hot one living in her bedroom. Hilarious and sarcastic at the same time as being dark.

Sucks to be Me by Kimberly Pauley: When sixteen-year-old Mina is forced to take a class to help her decide whether or not to become a vampire like her parents, she also faces a choice between her life-long best friend and the boy she has a crush on versus new friends and possible boyfriends in her mandatory "vampire lessons."

You Are So Undead to Me by Stacie Jay: Megan Berry, a Carol, Arkansas, high school student who can communicate with the Undead, must team up with her childhood friend Ethan to save homecoming from an army of flesh-hungry zombies.

Thicker than Water by Karla Jablonski:Coping with her mother's cancer makes seventeen-year-old Kia feel out of place everywhere until she is drawn into the goth-vampire club scene, where she finds acceptance and one gorgeous, popular guy who might offer escape.

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantasky:Seventeen-year-old Jessica, adopted and raised in Pennsylvania, learns that she is descended from a royal line of Romanian vampires and that she is betrothed to a vampire prince, who poses as a foreign exchange student while courting her.

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld:In Tally's world, a 16th birthday brings an operation, transforming one from a repellent Ugly to an attractive Pretty. Turning Pretty is all Tally has ever wanted. Her friend Shay would rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally must make a terrible choice.

Bloodline by Kate Cary: It's been 35 years since the demise of Dracula. When 19-year-old John Shaw returns from fighting in World War I, he is haunted by nightmares--not only of the ravages of war, but of the brutal, almost superhuman feats of his commander, Quincey Harker.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryans:In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best, and the fence that protects her village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth must remain intact. After fence is breached, Mary's world is thrown into chaos, and she must choose between her village and her future.

Unwind by Neal Susterman: In a future world where those between the ages of thirteen and eighteen can have their lives "unwound" and their body parts harvested for use by others, three teens go to extreme lengths to uphold their beliefs--and, perhaps, save their own lives.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult: Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact -- leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

What Happened to Cass McBride by Gails Giles: After his younger brother commits suicide, Kyle Kirby decides to exact revenge on the person he holds responsible. Cass McBride has only a walkie talkie to save her when she is buried alive.

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher: When high school student Clay Jenkins receives a box in the mail containing thirteen cassette tapes recorded by his classmate Hannah, who committed suicide, he spends a bewildering and heartbreaking night crisscrossing their town, listening to Hannah's voice recounting the events leading up to her death

Maximum Ride by James Patterson: After the mutant Erasers abduct the youngest member of their group, the "birdkids," who are the result of genetic experimentation, take off in pursuit and find themselves struggling to understand their own origins and purpose.

Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan: Darren Shan is an ordinary schoolboy who enjoys hanging out with his three best friends. Then one day they stumble across an invitation to visit the Cirque Du Freak, a mysterious freak show. As if by destiny, Darren wins a ticket, and what f

What are the parts of literary analysis?
Q. I need the answer to be put as simple as possible.
P.S i need all parts literary analysis in a book report.
thanks :)

A. Basic Tips for Writing a Literary Analysis

1. Write in the present tense.

EXAMPLE: In Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily," the townspeople visit Emily Grierson's house because it smells bad.

NOT: In Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily," the townspeople visited Emily Grierson's house because it smelled bad.

2. Normally, keep yourself out of your analysis; in other words, use the third person (no I or you). Some instructors may require or allow the first or second person in an informal analysis if the usage is consistent, however, so check with your instructor.

FIRST PERSON: I believe that the narrator in "Sonny's Blues" is a dynamic character because I read many details about the changes in his attitude toward and relationship with Sonny.

THIRD PERSON: The narrator in "Sonny's Blues" is a dynamic character who changes his attitude toward and relationship with Sonny as the story progresses.

SECOND PERSON: At the end of "Everyday Use," Mama realizes that Maggie is like her but has not received the attention you should give your daughter to help her attain self-esteem.

THIRD PERSON: At the end of "Everyday Use," Mama realizes that Maggie is like her but has not received enough attention to build self-esteem.

3. Avoid summarizing the plot (i.e., retelling the story literally). Instead analyze (form a thesis about and explain) the story in literary terms.

PLOT SUMMARY: In Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," the mad narrator explains in detail how he kills the old man, who screams as he dies. After being alerted by a neighbor, the police arrive, and the madman gives them a tour through the house, finally halting in the old man's bedroom, where he has buried the man beneath the floor planks under the bed. As he is talking, the narrator hears what he thinks is the old man's heart beating loudly, and he is driven to confess the murder.

ANALYSIS: Though the narrator claims he is not mad, the reader realizes that the narrator in "The Telltale Heart" is unreliable and lies about his sanity. For example, the mad narrator says he can hear "all things in the heaven and in the earth." Sane people cannot. He also lies to the police when he tells them that the shriek they hear occurs in his dream. Though sane people do lie, most do not meticulously plan murders, lie to the police, and then confess without prompting. Finally, the madman is so plagued with guilt that he hears his own conscience in the form of the old man's heart beating loudly. Dead hearts do not beat, nor do sane people confuse their consciences with the sounds of external objects.

4. Include a clear thesis statement which addresses something meaningful about the literature, often about the theme. (See separate thesis handout.)

5. Use literary terms to discuss your points (i.e., character, theme, setting, rhyme, point of view, alliteration, symbols, imagery, figurative language, protagonist, and so forth).

NONLITERARY TERMS: To show that women are important, Adrienne Rich writes about Aunt Jennifer and the tigers that she creates in her needlework.

LITERARY TERMS: The poem "Aunt Jennifer's Tigers" contains vivid images and symbols which reveal a feminist perspective.

6. Do not confuse characters' (in fiction or drama) or speakers' (in poetry) viewpoints with authors' viewpoints.

AUTHOR: As a black woman, Eudora Welty faces racism in "A Worn Path." (Eudora Welty, the author, was not black.)

CHARACTER: As a black woman, Old Phoenix faces racism in "A Worn Path." (Old Phoenix, a character, is black.)

POET: In "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," Robert Frost is tempted to drift into his subconscious dream world, yet he knows he has other obligations to fulfill when he states, "But I have promises to keep, / And miles to go before I sleep." (The pronoun "I" refers to the speaker of the poem, not to Robert Frost, the poet.)

SPEAKER: In "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," the speaker is tempted to drift into his subconscious dream world, yet he knows he has other obligations to fulfill when he states, "But I have promises to keep, / And miles to go before I sleep." (Here the "I" correctly refers to the speaker of the poem.)

7. Support your points with many quotations and paraphrases, but write the majority of your paper in your own words with your own ideas.

8. When writing a research paper that includes literary criticism, make sure that you form your own opinion rather than merely restate those of the critics. You may, however, use the critics' views to support yours.

9. Cite prose, poetry, drama, critics, and any other sources used according to specialized MLA standards.

1. Choose your story. (You will find links to the stories on the next page of this unit.)
2. Read your selected story several times and take notes on it
3. Determine what you think the main point of the story is. This called the story's theme. Decide what you think the story means. This is your interpretation.
4. Use literary terms to help you articulate the story's meaning. The following web sites give explanations:
5. Brainstorm to come up with an idea for a thesis statement.
6. After you have decided what argument you want to make about the story, gather up your evidence to support that argument.
7. Do not write a plot summary as a paper.
8. To get a better sense of what a literary analysis is like, study several sample literary analysis papers.

What shipping option should I use on Ebay for large items?

Q. I've got 2 teen/children bedroom sets: 2 beds, nightstands, dressers, and matresses. When I first listed the items, I put them up for local pickup because shipping would probably cost a lot.

A. Shipping items like this are very expensive. In addition they will need to be boxed. I would suggest Craigslist or Backpage.com locally.

How much does bedroom furniture (decent quality wood) depreciate each year?
Q. I need to sell my bedroom set....king memory foam mattress, head and foot boards, nine drawer dresser with a mirror and two night stands with two drawers each.

I purchased the set in 2005 for $5000.00

A. The best thing to do is to get on to Craigs List, Backpage.com and Ebay. See what similar pieces are going for. There is no Blue Book value for furniture or mattresses. At best I would say you would be lucky to get 40 - 60 percent of origninal value.

Where do people buy "real" furniture in Southern California?
Q. I want to buy a bedroom set that will last, preferably for at least a couple generations, in solid wood. I don't want Ikea or anything like that. Where do you buy your furniture? Any tips on good, discount furniture?

A. Ethan Allan has really good stuff, but its really expensive. Stuff made out of real wood (not pine or particle board) is fairly pricey. Wicks has some decent stuff. We priced out a nice mahogany bedroom set there with a queen sleigh bed, highboy dresser, and a pair of nightstands which came out to about $3500. I'd say stay away from Levitz. I bought a recliner from them that fell apart within 2 years. My wife fell in love with a sleigh bed from Thomasville. without the matress it was $2500. I found a guy on ebay selling the exact same bed that was 6 months old for 1500 with a nice beauty rest matress. I went for it, but had to pay a few hundred to have it shipped from NYC to Los Angeles. You might try that though, look around in the high-dollar stores, note the maker and model number then look to see who might have it on ebay or maybe an internet retailer.

Is there a big difference between coffee and espresso colored furniture?
Q. I am trying to complete a bedroom set by purchasing different parts from different sets. The headboard I bought was beautiful, but the dressers and armoires weren't. So I'm putting together my own "set". I would consider my headboard to be an espresso color and there is a dresser online that is considered "coffee" color. There are other dressers that are espresso but I L0VE this dresser. If I were to purchase it would the colors be totally off?

A. Espresso is nearly black Coffee is a very dark brown ..As far as the colors being off...yes depends on their proximity and the lighting too. PLus the colors are wildly different manufacturer to manufacturer. It could work especially if it is multitoned.. What I would do is take a photo that accurately represents the color of the headboard and email it to them but their monitors could be skewed.

OMG!!!! I almost died when I got my electricity bill?

Q. I just got my electricity bill today. It was 274.35 for a one bedroom apartment. It says I used 1,223 kWh at 0.14416 kWh fixed energy rate and 1,223 kWh at 0.0601 market edge whatever that means. I thought I was doing pretty good.

1. Low flow shower head at less than one gallon a minute.
2. Thermostat set at a whopping 85 degrees.
3. Two fans, one in living room and one in bedroom. Continuously running which I will probably adjust.

Things I can't live without.

1. 42 inch plasma screen tv. (its on alot)
2. Laptop computer (its also on alot)

Did notice my fridge tends to run alot but I didn't think that much.

Am I missing something here? What can I do to get this bill down to around 100 bucks a month? I use TXU in Houston TX. Is my bill somehow tied to the oil and gas prices?

A. Up to 75% of the electricity used to power your home electronics is consumed while the products are turned off.
Among the most common household devices that comsume electricity while not in operation are computers, TV's, cable boxes, cell-phone charges ans other power adapters, clocks, VCR's DVD players etc.

Residents of San Antonio, TX, inform me please!?
Q. I've decided on moving to Texas next year! I'm willing to consider anywhere within 20 miles of Downtown SA. I think SA has a lot of its own recreational and cultural amenities as any large city should, and it's oh so close to Austin.

Fort Worth is the other Texas city I'm considering. I can't afford Austin or Dallas. And, long story short, circumstances won't permit me to consider Houston.

How much does it cost to live in FW and SA? For example, how much is my apartment going to cost? Then, the water bill? Electricity? Natural gas? Water/sewer?

I've heard electricity is outrageously expensive, however there is apparently more competition in the Texas market thanks to deregulation.

Which of these cities would you recommend, and why? (Please figure in more than economics!)

I appreciate any and all help in advance!

God Bless TEXAS; I've been looking forward to this move for years!
I apologize for a couple little weird statements here, this is a copy of another question I asked.

What I should've asked is would you recommend SA, and why?

A. As far as apartments, it depends where you live. I pay around $500 on my home a month and I own it. It is on a low interest rate and currently valued at $180,000. I pay taxes and insurance also, so after this is all said and done I pay $800 a month. But, I have lived here awhile now. My son lives in a 2 bedroom apartment with his friend and pays $700 a month. Of course he doesn't pay water and he doesn't have to mow or take other homeowner responsibilities. Water is very reasonable about $15 a month, but you also have sewage and garbage fees. If you live in an apartment, most don't make you pay water. Electricity depends on you. If you keep it set around 78 degrees, you are not going to have really high bills, but for every degree less in summer it is about 7% more per month. In the winter, we rarely use heat, so the bills are very low.

I have said it before anything North of 1604 is considered the best real estate and the lowest crime rate. From 1604 to 410, it depends on your area. Anything inside the loop to 410 is iffy unless you are in the Alamo Heights or Castle Hills areas.

It is a beautiful , historic city with lovely people who are very friendly everywhere you go. Good luck on your search and be safe with your move.

How do you write a literary analysis?

Q.

(See the current edition of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers.)

This is from the story "A Rose for Emily"?
Q. I have read this story SEVERAL times but I still don't get it :( SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

1. The introduction to the lesson says that Faulkner's "great theme was the American South." "A Rose for Emily" is a good example of regionalism. Identify two examples of local color from the story.

2. In parts III & IV, Miss Emily makes a few suspicious purchases in town. What does she buy and what is the purpose of each item?

3. "A Rose for Emily" is not told in chronological order. List each section in chronological order and explain your choices.

4. In section II Emily's cousins came expecting a wedding. When they don't find Homer, they assume he went to prepare for the wedding. After Emily's cousins left, "within three days Homer Barron was back in town." What happened to Homer next?

5. When the story returns to present day and the townspeople enter Miss Emily's upstairs room, what do they find after breaking down the door?

6. What do you suppose happened to Homer Barron? What context clues help you piece together his fate?

A. http://www.sparknotes.com/short-stories/a-rose-for-emily/ --for you to look up stuff in, if you need.

what i remember:

1.Old mansion, crumbling and decay--perfect southern gothic horror ; that miss e doesn't pay taxes "ask colonel so-and-so' she says, and he's been dead a decade.
2. Doesn't she buy a men's comb and brush set, or something? Yeah, that's right,They're silver with Homer's initials. Also she buys arsenic 'for rats'--people think she will kill herself
3. That I don't know, only that Faulkner plays with time, there are flashbacks, flashforwards.
and memory can be as here-and -now as...her and now. I can't answer because I don't know how your teacher has the story 'sectioned'.
4.He entered emily's & was never seen again. You know: the rat poison....people start to complain of bad smells fro her property
5.In the upstairs bedroom Homer's suit and toilet set she bought him laid out as if for use. a mummified Homer on the double bed. Beside the corpse, the bed and pillow are indented as if something has been lying there. Turns out it was Emily, they find her hair on the pillow. Obviously, Homer was no marrying man and Emily, now crazy in a truly Southern Gothic way, kills him-- but gets to keep him forever, to lay next to in bed every night...probably from the first night of his death.
6. Oops, already answered in 5. the clues are the poison, his last seen entering the house, the cousins expecting a wedding and he's 'gone off', the bad smell that causes the city to spread lime around her foundation (Homer rotting where Emily sleeps).

Hope that helps, I loved this story, read it many times. Good luck!

Does anyone know how warranty's work on furniture that are faulty in design?

Q. I purchased a bedset from Art Van last Feb. My bedframe keeps cracking right down the face of the bed posts. I've had my bed replaced twice now and it's not even a year old yet. I just found out that I have not recieved a new warranty with these beds and my warranty will expire next month. Anyone know what I can do about this? Is there any way I can get them to take this bedroom set back and replace it with a different style? They are supposed to have a 5 year warranty I can buy for $100, but they say I could only buy that within 30 days of recieving the bed, even if they would allow me to buy it now should I, I will just end up with a bed that's split in 5 years right? Any help is appreciated!

A. Not only would I call, as Uncle Bob advised, but I would also write a detailed letter of complaint. Find out who the letter should be directed to and send it "registered mail."

In the letter, be as detailed and specific as possible. State the facts, and send pictures if you can. Give dates, contacts, etc. and anything else that would be of help.

Keep your letter professional and to the point. End it by stating precisely what you expect the company to do. Don't make any threats, just say something like..." In view of the problems I have outlined, I would like your company to ......". Here you can say "replace the defective furniture with another style," if that's what you want. Be assertive without being rude, but make your dissatisfaction very clear and your request for resolution concise and emphatic.

Good luck.

How can I get a moldy smell out of the finish on some wood furniture?
Q. I purchased a brand new bedroom set from Art Van Furniture and about 6 months after I bought it I started smelling mold in the bedroom. It is not inside of the drawers or the back sides and none of the clothes that come out of it smell like mold but all of the stained surfaces smell like mold, even the headboard. I had 2 servicemen come out and they couldn't smell it but everyone that comes in my house can smell it. The smell goes away for a few days after I clean it with bleach but then comes back & the finish is being ruined with the bleach. Art Van Refuses to replace it even though I bought an extended warranty and they told me they won't send anyone else out and closed my case so now I am stuck with pretty but smelly furniture. Any suggestions?

A. Use white vinegar instead of bleach. Bleach will not kill mold. Vinegar will kill 80% of all mold types. Even better, tea tree oil kills almost all of it.

Bleach is the absolutely wrong thing to use; it will damage the wood and mold actually thrives off it. Anyone who knows anything about mold remediation will tell you never to use bleach.

I need info. on where to begin buying furniture wholesale from overseas, and shipped to my customers?
Q. Im having trouble finding an overseas wholesale furniture company that I can list their products on my web page for my customers to view and select their order. Then I will also need information on a secured online payment section where they can make a purchase. Finally, how I get my product I purchased to my customers address with a guarantee? Please help!

A. it sounds like you want to dropship furniture from an overseas manufacturer without having to warehouse anything. That is going to be difficult since most "reputable" overseas companies are going to have minimum orders (container sizes) since the cost involved in shipping one piece of furniture or even a bedroom set would be cost prohibited.

My question is why do you need an overseas operation to begin with? There are plenty of US companies that offer distributors discounts and will dropship product. All of the major furniture makers (ethan allen, broyhill, etc.) have closed up their US plants and are making the furniture overseas as it is. There are still some US companies that would welcome new distributers. Check out the furniture market in Highpoint NC for a listing of manufacturers.

If you insist on going oversees check out these websites: www.alibaba.com; www.fuzing.com or www.ttnet.net They list various companies with thousands of products for import.

As far as a secured online payment, if you are a startup I suggest using Paypal's shopping cart feature. THat way you don't actually need a merchant account and can accept virtually any kind of payment. It is a little involved to download to your website but doable.

If you are dropshipping you will always run the risk of your supplier back ordering a product at which point you need to stay ontop of your customer service and either issue a refund or keep them informed. It has definitely caused problems for some people selling on ebay! You really need to be confident in your supplier and his supplies before listing a product for sale.

Help with wedding registry.?
Q. The problem is that we have lived together for over 4 years, so to register for toaster, mixers, coffee maker, etc. is silly because we already have them, and the like. What we would like is things that aren't realastic for a registry...bedroom set, livingroom furniture. If we were to put that in the registy for Ethan Allen, or similar, we would be locked into that store, when it is possible that another store could have something better and/or cheaper. China is not an option at this time, we live in a small apartment with no room or use for china. What do we do? It is suggested to register the honeymoon, I feel that is the same thing as registering for cash, which is tacky and tasteless. Please help us out.

A. personally I wouldnt register for anything. the purpose of registering for gifts is so people can get you things to help start you out. in your case...there is nothing you need. and to put stuff like a bedroom set and living room stuff would be tacky as you know nobody will buy you those things...they are just too espensive and will make you look greedy and tacky. and your right...a honeymoon or cash registry looks very tacky. I would just not ask for anything and if people ask what you want tell them there is nothing you need. and friends and family can tell people by word of mouth that there isnt really anything you need accept new furnature that your saving up to buy. they arent stupid...they will get the point its money you need and if they choose to give a gift then they will give money. there was nothing my hubby and I needed when we married and we didnt even want gifts either. some people didnt give any gift, some gave money and some people surprised us and bought gifts that we actually could use that never occured to us to ask for (a set of matching dishes, stainless steel pots and pans, a new vaccuum)

How do I get two tv's hooked up to my single directv/tivo hr10-250?

Q. When I hook my hr10-250 up to my tv via hdmi it will no longer broadcast tv through any of the other outputs. What is the best way to get a signal to my non hdmi set in the bedroom?

A. Don't use HDMI. Use component. Then you can send the second set S or composite.

How long should a husband go without sex from his wife?
Q. Is there a limit to how long a man should go without sex from his wife? Let's say he has sex on average every two months.Maybe 2 a month is outstanding! Is that cruel? Should a husband have to put up with this type of behavior? Say they have a child who is 10. And say the are very religious Christians. What should the man do?

A. OneBrilliantMan:

Every couple and every relationship is different. There are no hard-and-fast rules about the appropriate amount of sex in a marriage. No one can tell you what the limit is or how long a man should wait.

Healthy relationships have a healthy sexual component - regardless of religious affiliation, age of the children or age of the marriage. If your sex life is unsatisfactory, then there are problems in your marriage. Problems in the bedroom are most often indicative of problems elsewhere in the relationship.

My advice: figure out how to reach your wife. You need to set the stage for a very serious conversation with your wife. You need to be sensitive. Ask open-ended questions, and LISTEN to what she is saying. My guess is that there is a reason or a number of reasons why she is not putting out. You need for her to tell you what those reasons are and how you can help rectify the situation. It may be that you're not romantic enough. It may be that she no longer feels sexy. It may be the she has lost interest in sex. It may be that she asked you to do something that was important to her that you did not do, and now she's resentful. You need to figure out what is wrong.

In the end, if you cannot establish a line of communication with your wife, one that leads to the two of you being better partners for each other, the sex is the least of your marriage's ills. If both parties are not able to communicate and solve problems, then you need to ask yourself if the marriage is worth maintaining.

Good luck!

Is it okay to use cheap speakers with a sound surround Receiver?
Q. I just got my mom a sound surround receiver for her birthday, and wasn't planning on getting any new speakers until xmas for her. But the guy at my future shop told me that if she where to use her cheap speakers that came with her dvd player, it would fry the Receiver? I just wanted to know if this was true, or if the guy was trying to milk more money from me?

A. This is possible, but at the same time, we don't have enough information to make that call.

Many home theater in a box speaker, like the ones that came with your Mom's DVD player, are 2 and even 3 ohm speakers. But most component surround sound receivers only accommodate 4 to 8 ohm speakers. Trying to connect the higher impedance speakers to the receiver can cause damage.

I would also like to point out that most component receivers are higher wattage than HTiB speakers like the ones you have. This means you can easily blow the speakers if you aren't super careful.

Congratulations on getting away from an HTiB and transitioning into a real receiver. This is a wise move. You will get better sound and longer enjoyment out of it. But I do recommend getting some real speakers whenever you can. Even if you just start off with a simple speaker package like these Yamaha speakers.
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=5.1+speaker+system+yamaha&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1343&bih=663&wrapid=tlif131043571375910&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=7663131366716535615&sa=X&ei=n6kbTo3qN8rIgQeRhY3dCQ&ved=0CGIQ8wIwAA#

Another great place to find speakers is on Ebay and Craigslist. There is nothing wrong with a set of used speakers as long as they sound good. I literally have thousands of dollars invested in my living room and bedroom speakers alone, and most of them were used when I got them.

How can i re-decorate my bedroom? But im not aloud to paint it?

Q. Have anyone got any ideas to re-decorate my bedroom. But my parents wont let me paint it again untill next year lol. I am thinking of buying new duvet and pillow covers, new mirror, wall clock and making everything modern. but this will take a long time to save up for and i am quite skint :L Thanks. Everything is considered and helpful :D x
Also...does anyone know where i can get really nice bedroom mirrors and duvet covers that are really modern and cheapish. x

A. The thing that is going to "refresh" your room the most and give it the best new look is going to be the bedding. That makes your bedding top priority, so you should set aside most of the money for that. These are a few of my suggestions that should change it up the most for the least amount of money:

4-piece set that includes comforter, bedskirt, and two shams.
http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/North-Crest-Home-Silhouette-Floral-4-piece-Comforter-Set/3084457/product.html?

8-piece set includes duvet cover, 2 euro shams, bedskirt and 2 decorative pillows. This one is my favorite and the least expensive at $59.99

http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3084237&cp=1331605.2623890&view=all&parentPage=family

Your accents should be a bold color, to help play up the modern look, but they also need to correspond with your bedding. For the mirror (I'm assuming you meant a wall mirror) I found this.

$18.00 black wall mirror:

http://www.target.com/Wall-Mirror-Black-25-5x15-5/dp/B0015EB4V4/sr=1-4/qid=1219356743/ref=sr_1_4/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&index=target&field-browse=1038576&rh=k%3Amirror%2Cp%5F3%3A%240-%2424&page=1

For the clock, I love this one, and I think it will really help with the modern feel:

http://www.target.com/Silver-Ball-Retro-Wall-Clock/dp/B0002IGJ5U/qid=1219357306/ref=br_1_4/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&node=197723011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=197723011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2

To soothe the tone a little and make it a more relaxing atmosphere, I reccomend one of these candlegardens:

http://www.target.com/Candle-Garden/dp/B0001BRMSQ/sr=1-2/qid=1219357372/ref=sr_1_2/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Acandle%20garden&page=1

http://www.target.com/Candle-Garden-Red/dp/B000NING46/sr=1-3/qid=1219357372/ref=sr_1_3/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Acandle%20garden&page=1

http://www.target.com/Candle-Garden-Green/dp/B000NING4Q/sr=1-1/qid=1219357372/ref=sr_1_1/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Acandle%20garden&page=1

http://www.target.com/Coffee-Break-Candle-Gift-Set/dp/B00006BHK2/sr=1-5/qid=1219357372/ref=sr_1_5/602-1446866-5975801?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Acandle%20garden&page=1

You also might consider getting posters or wall art and maybe a floor plant (like a palm tree). For the posters, go to

http://www.art.com/

They have a lot of really nice, inexpensive posters. Some come in frames.

Good luck and I hope I helped! :)

How can you maximise space in a 7'x8' bedroom without a loft bed?
Q. I'm moving into a new house, and have had to take the smallest bedroom. We won't really be able to afford new furniture so I'll have to make do with the bed I have (a single with drawers underneath for storage) How can I maximise space for study and relaxing?

A. A bedroom 7 feet by 8 feet is a real challenge. Put the bed against the back wall and the side wall. Next to the bed put a desk about 4 feet wide.

On the desk, place a lamp on the end close to the bed so you can use it to read by when you're in bed and close enough so you can turn it on and off.

Across from the bed about 2 feet away from the desk, put your dresser, about 4 feet high so you can put a television set on top of it and watch it from the bed.

Have everything the same color, except for a bright toss pillow om the bed and your wall hangings, posters or pictures. This last is very important. Make sure they are bright and fun to look at. Travel posters are useful for this. If the walls are a pearl white, the furniture will be best painted the same color, the headboard, the desk, and the dresser. Bedspread and curtains should be white or gray.

Or paint your walls a soft yellow, and use the same color for the headboard, desk, dresser. The bedspread and the curtains can be the same color or a little bit darker.

The other choice for color schemes that can work out nicely are soft gray and taupe. Just remember to keep everything the same color, just varying the intensity.

Where can I get cheap things to decorate my sons room?
Q. Ok I'm moving to a new apartment and my son is going to finally get his own bedroom. He just turned 4 years old and I have no idea where to look for cheap things to decorate his room. His favorite characters are disney cars and thomas the train..me and my husband are on a budget...and we all know disney cars and thomas are not cheap. so any ideas?

A. I would avoid the actual Disney charecter stuff. Not only is it a little expensive, there is a good change he'll complain it is too babyish in two years. Plus, he already had toys with those charecters.

To save money, get stuff you could see in an 8 year old's room.

Bedding I think works for a 4 year old and an older boy:

For wall art, posters make a big impression. I reccomend picking posters that will fit in frames the same color as the furniture. That way later on you can just change the posters.

If the furniture is dark brown in his room, you can get this frame set for $30 http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=16566594&RN=88 You could get these:

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28186176

We are looking for ideas on how to set up the master bedroom without dressers or nightstands.?

Q. Our new place has lots of closets and storage. We are thinking of not going with the norm of bedroom sets and do something different. Suggestions welcome!
We are also not planning on having a television in the room. Any other ideas?

A. I guess it would depend on how big the room is. If you're planning on buying a new bed you could up-size as long as it doesn't overpower the room. A chaise lounge would be really pretty and you could put a floor lamp next to it for reading. You might also consider a tall mirror - either one you can lean against a wall or a free-standing one. You don't want the room to look too plain so curtains would add some color. Are you putting a TV in the room? An armoire would look good and add some height to the room.

What is a good adhesive remover on wood that won't discolor or damage it?
Q. I made the mistake of using scotch tape and labels on an expensive red wood bedroom set when I put it in storage serveral years ago. I took it out from storage recently, but find it difficult to remove the label and tape and don't want to chance damaging the fine wood.

A. I always use Goo Gone on everything. I would use it on a spot that is hidden first to test it, but I would think it would work.

Girl and boy sharing bedroom decorating advice?
Q. My two kids. are 7 year olds and will be sharing a room. One a girl and one a boy. What are some cute bedroom sets that will go together well or were meant to be together, that will look great in their room.

A. I wouldn't go with a theme, I would make it colorful, like paint the walls and have neutral curtains and light fixtures but I would be sure that they each had a shelf or some kind of storage to call their own that they can have their things on. I would keep the bedspreads the same color but put pillows and little touches that are different on the beds. For example, a red ladybug pillow for her and a red car pillow for him. The ideas are endless in my head right now. I'm sure you'll come up with something great and they'll love it. Take care.

How do you socialize a 5 month old German Shepherd ?. She acts afraid about everything.?

Q. She is a white shepherd, not aggressive at all. Very mild nature and we love that about her,but she likes being alone. She doesn't like sitting with us or going in our bedroom. We have only had her 1 week and we see a little improvement. We try to praise her and love on her all the time, but it is not really reciprocated.

A. Basically, you are going to be able to make only tiny changes - dogs have important developmental stages, and she is well-past the "socialisation" age-stage. What she is is almost what she'll always be, so far as character goes.

The proper time to get a pup is at 7-to-9 weeks old, which gives you a week for the pup to learn to trust you and allows you time to then give it experience (from a distance the PUP considers safe) of every movement, reflection, scent, sight, sound & texture in your environment BEFORE Pup reaches 13 weeks old and ends its "confident & curious" stage. From 13-through-16 weeks pups are in a "need security" stage - well-bred well-reared pups don't show that they are in that stage but, sadly, far too many pups miss out on both categories.

So either return her promptly, or be very patient with her slow progress.

If you keep her:
It sounds as as though she is hard to catch. So the first advice is to "wear" her.
• Put a buckle-collar on her. Using a 2-3m/6-10' flat leash, either place the loop over your right shoulder & under your left armpit, or put your belt through it. Then clip the horse-clip to the collar, and get on with your normal activities, quietly talking to her from time to time, and giving her a rub or a pat or a tidbit every time she voluntarily comes close. The objects are to get her used to your proximity and to convince her that nice things happen when she gets close to you.
If she shows fear of vacuum cleaners or spin-driers, tether her to something on the far side of the room while working; shift her to the side you've vacuumed, before cleaning "her" side.
• If she shows fright (at home or while you are walking her off-property), just stop (let her hide behind you if that is what she wants) and silently wait until SHE decides to either ignore the scary thing or - better - to investigate it. You then INSTANTLY praise her (use a high-pitched "happy" voice) and - if she's close enough - reward her with a pat or a rub.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO COMFORT OR SOOTHE A FRIGHTENED POOCH. That is REWARDING an undesirable behaviour, which encourages the dog to CONTINUE that behaviour!
You MUST wait until she gathers enough courage to tolerate whatever the scary thing is, then INSTANTLY praise-&-reward her for being brave.

DON'T take her to places where dogs run loose - neither you nor she can control how fast & close they approach.
DO learn her "bubble" - which means the distance outside which things don't bother her but inside which they do. (Cheeky sparrows have a very small "bubble" - they often let you get as close as 4ft before flying away. Humans tend to have a "bubble" of between 3 & 6 ft for strangers, 2 ft for friends.) After which, until such time as she shows that she trusts you to protect her from bad things, you make sure that you lead her AWAY from those scary things before they reach her "bubble".

• Join some of the 400+ YahooGroups dedicated to various aspects of living with GSDs. Possibly join one of the groups for owners of timid pooches.
Each group's Home page tells you which aspects they like to discuss, and how active they are. Unlike YA, they are set up so that you can have an ongoing discussion with follow-up questions for clarification. Most allow you to include photos.

• Once she shows that she trusts you, join a training-club class so that an experienced instructor can improve your use of "the voices", balance, posture, timing, rewards vs reprimands; at the same time your pet learns to pay attention regardless of what other dogs & people are doing,

Good luck

How much would it cost to live in Mexico city for a month?
Q. - I know theres a swine flu there. This question is in regard for about a year from now,

A. Mexico City is a great place to visit for a month!

It would be nice to have some more details about what you are looking to do in Mexico City.

Anyways, you can rent a decent (not a first rate hotel, but clean and safe) hotel room in downtown Mexico City for about $700 pesos per week, but that's with a shared bath. It also includes free internet in the lobby and a safe for your things. You can get a room w/bath for about $1,000 pesos per week. It really depends on what you want. There are many hotels in the Centro Historico (Downtown) which is close to many sights and things to see and do.

Yes, there's human flu in Mexico. It's also in the US and now it's in many other countries.

As for the cost of daily living: A ride on the Metro subway system costs $2.00 pesos (less than $0.20 US cents), a short taxi ride costs about $20 pesos, a bus costs about 3-4 pesos in the DF.

A tour of the city by Turibus costs about $150 pesos for all day.

Food: A tamale and a cup of atole (a steaming hot rice drink, often Chocolate or strawberry flavored) costs about 15 pesos. There's your breakfast. Lunch at a small-medium family run restaurant, the set menu comida corrida which usually includes soup, rice, beans, a main dish (enchiladas, beef or chicken steak, fish etc), a dessert, tortillas and a drink of agua fresca (flavored water, like juice) should cost between $40-50 pesos. Dinner: six tacos and a coke= $38 pesos (5 pesos per taco, 8 pesos for the coke. So your total for one day of food= $93 pesos mas o menos (more or less) and that's way under $10 USD at the current exchange rate of about $13.2 pesos to $1 USD.

Here is a list of prices for Mexico City. Some of these seem a little low, so maybe the list is a little old:
