Paint set question...?

Laugh

I got a paint set for Christmas. It was this set http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/closeout-the-bedroom-arles-studio-art-set Well it came with mostly acrylic paints, and only 2 watercolor paints in yellow and green. why did it come with only 2 water color paints?? Also can anyone explain why the color wheel is not in English?? I mean everything else is in English except the color wheel!! Thanks!!

Answer
I am afraid you may have a simple paint-by-number set, if it is the one pictured. Painting sets like this usually contain cheap paints, even cheaper brushes, and poor quality canvases or paper. The fact that it came up on a J.C.Penney website indicates it is not high-quality artist's materials. Foreign language directions or labels are another indication. I am not sure why you would have gotten watercolors in with your set, because the description says it is acrylics.

I personally do not like to see these sets sold as "real" artist's materials, because they rarely contain materials that will produce quality work. I would play around with it and then if you find you enjoy painting, purchase some better quality materials and enjoy! You can certainly use the box and easel to hold any art supplies you like.

Remember to send a thank you for the gift. Someone was hoping to give you an artistic boost. Paint the picture, frame it and give it to them, and tell them you are considering buying your own paints and brushes. Maybe next time you'll get a gift certificate for Artarama, Daniel Smith, Cheap Joe's, Dakota Art, or Dick Blick!

Royal Caribbean Reviews/Advice?

bmoorbruin

I'm embarking on a cruise later this week with Royal Caribbean and I was wondering if anyone has any past experiences or advice they would like to share to help me prepare or to let me know what to expect, such as the food, activities on board (see cruise details), or any other advice that could help avoid trouble, delays, etc. Also, I've had trouble finding details about all-inclusiveness. Are Royal Caribbean's cruises universally all-inclusive or not or am I just not seeing something? I'm also having trouble finding information about wifi on the ships.

Cruise details:

Four Nights
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Departure Port: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Ports of Call: Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico
One day at sea

Any input is appreciated

Answer
I have been on many cruises with Royal Caribbean. I have not been on the Enchantment but have been on one of the other of RC's Vision Class ships. Its one of their older ships but it is nice and has good features and service. I suggest that you take a look at this RC web site which gives the features of the ship and lets you take a 360 visual tour/view of it.

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000zoFpuKp81wvkY5oW1NW-jWB:12hbioan0?br=R&shipClassCode=VI&shipCode=EN

Your standard cabin will be between 175 and 200 sq ft depending upon which category you selected, about the size of a 9 by 12 ft home bedroom. It will have two beds which can be made into a queen, a bathroom with a shower stall, a closet and some drawer space, a TV and telephone, a safe for valuables, a mini-refrigerator, and a life jacket for each passenger. Your cabin steward will clean your cabin and provide fresh towels twice a day, and provide ice.

Regardless of which cruise line you select, the things that are included are pretty much the same. The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (including breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and free room service)(you do pay to eat in the specialty restaurants), all shows and entertainment, and free use of all facilities on ship. The things that you will have to pay for are:

GRATUITIES: They will amount to about $10 per person in your cabin per day; about $40 each for a 4 day cruise. When you check in at the pier they will set up an on-board charge account for you to cover any and everything you may buy on ship. They will issue you a "cruise card" which will also serve as your room key and pass to get on and off the ship. At the end of the cruise they will add the gratuity to your tab and you can pay with a credit card or cash, your choice.

ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AND SOFT DRINKS: Coffee, tea, milk, juice, and lemonade and punch will be provided free but you must pay for soft drinks and alcoholic beverages and they will add a 15% gratuity to each drink and soft drink order. You can save on alcoholic beverages by requesting the drinks in a plain glass rather than the fancy souvenir glass which adds about $2.00 to the price. RC sells soft drink cards for unlimited soft drinks on the first day of the cruise only; so if you drink a lot of soft drinks you may want to consider getting one.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Cruise lines will take plenty of photographs of you all over the ship, in the dining room, and as you exit the ship in ports. These will cost a lot, like $15 to $20 for most. You can save on photos by simply taking your own; ask other passengers to take pictures of you around the ship, they always agree to that.

TOURS/EXCURSIONS: You are not required to book any tours and can get off and on in the ports as much as you want. But the cruise line will offer a lot of tours and these are expensive. These are listed on your cruise line web site and you can reserve them well before the cruise and pay for them also. If you are going to the Caribbean, most places you can get a tour or taxi on the pier for a much lower price than on the ship.

SOUVENIRS: Anything you buy on ship from a gift shop or duty free shop goes on your on board account. Things that you buy on shore you pay cash or credit card for.

CASINO: If you plan to gamble on ship you will need cash for that.

OTHER: the ship has a "specialty" restaurants called Chops Grille and there is a gratuity/service charge of about $20 each person each time to eat there. All other food on board is free and its not really necessary to budget for food; you cannot eat all of the FREE FOOD that will be available.

SPA Services: If you want/need to have your hair done, get a massage or wrap, or any services from the spa, you will have to pay for them. You can use the gym free but the spa stuff cost big bucks.

You cabin will likely have a minibar with soft drinks and munchies; you have to pay for them (but there is free room service 24/7).

INTERNET SVCS: The ships will have an internet cafe and also WiFi but the there is a fee for internet access and it is very expensive (like about $50 to $60 an hour). If you really want/need to get online wait until a port stop and you can probably get it for about $5. to $6 an hour; that's what we always do.

This is from RC's web site regarding WiFi:

"There will be six designated *"Hot Spots" which vary from ship to ship.

To use our WI-FI access, you'll need:
A laptop
Windows operating system
802.11b Wireless networking capability

The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:
Base rate is $.55 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:
$28.00 for 60 minutes
$38.00 for 90 minutes
$55.00 for 150 minutes

All prices are subject to change without notice."

Its been my experience that the internet service on ships is very slow, especially when the ship is moving and has to keep adjusting for its satellite connection. SO try it before you decide to buy a package.

There will be a free show for everyone each evening and the disco will start about 11:00 PM each evening; no cover or admission charge. The cruise director will have organized games and activities around the pool. You can use the gym and walking track; you can use the game room for board games; and there will be the pools and hot tubs. This ship has a solarium which is a covered pool and hot tub area that is nice for quiet time.

Here are some packing tips:

Always pack your passport and cruise documents in your carry on bag ONLY.

The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM, so take:
-swim wear (at least 2),
-shorts, tank tops and "T's"
-sandals,
-beach shoes,
-your snorkel equipment if you have it,
-sun glasses and sun screen,
-lotions,
-a cap or big hat for the sun,
-a book if you are a reader,
-your music player,
-sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym,
-good walking shoes,
-your camera, and
-other personal toiletries including tooth paste, mouth wash or lotions.

Your cabin will have towels and soap provided, including pool and beach towels, and a hair dryer. It will also have a generic hair shampoo so you do not need to bring that unless you like a specific brand.

After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee), shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc. Don't over pack , take clothes that you can mix and match tops and bottoms and plan to wear each piece twice. If you are going to the Caribbean, beaches and tours you will likely be in shorts and/or swim wear most of every day so evening clothes don't usually get much wear.

Your cruise will have a formal night when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the shipâs Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. You will not be denied entry to the main dining room if you decide not to dress up, as long as you are at least sports casual. But most people do dress up. A gown or party dress for women and a suit or tux for men. Some people dress up both formal nights, some don't.

- Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage.

- Pack using the vacuum clothing bags (about $20 for 3 at Target) so that you can get more in your bag AND so that if the TSA at the airport opens your bag they can see what's inside without rummaging through your things.

-Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in.

- If you are taking your cell phone, MP3 player or other item that needs to be plugged in take an extension cord as the plugs in the cabin are generally not in the best places and there are usually only one or two.

- Take a small bottle of hand sanitizer and/or hand-wipes. There are generally sanitizer dispensers at the entrances of restaurants, the buffets and dining room, but some times the are not there or not working. The sanitizer helps prevent the spread of the Norwalk Virus that sometimes occur on cruise ships.

-If you plan to get into the pools or hot tub as soon as you get on ship (they will be open), bring those clothes in your carry on bag; you other luggage may not get to your cabin until much later in the afternoon.

- Take a can of air freshener for your cabin bathroom. The bathrooms do not have exhaust fans.

- Take a few zip lock bags of various sizes; they always come in handy.

- Take some one dollar bills (also maybe a few $5's) for tipping the porters in the airport, at the pier (they do not work for the ship), and they will come in handy in port stops for buying small items in the markets and at vendor stands; especially bartering places.

When is the best time to buy from Ashley Furniture?

kittybooIs

I want to buy a bedroom set from Ashley Furniture. When do they have the best prices? What kind of sale schedule do they have?

Answer
Though I do not know a whole lot about Ashley's retail stores, I do know the company well; the furniture retailer for whom I worked sales, customers service, and management was an Ashley dealer. I can only assume, as one of the other responses did, that they function in much the same way that other discount furniture retailers do.

Furniture stores, as was mentioned, tend to have some definite sale times. Statistically, the big weekends of the year are memorial day and labor day. Those also tend to be the days of the biggest sales (generally a circus in the store, so check to see if they start sales prior to the actual holiday weekend). Additionally, any other "3 day weekend" holiday tends to trigger furniture sales.

Hopefully this is helpful.

Does Ashleys Furniture big event "no interest till -----" mean that there are no payments until then?

_outlaw_

Ok so does the big event that Ashley furniture has for "No interest until 2010," does also mean that you dont have to make any payments until then? I got furniture there a few months ago for my living room and ( I didnt see the actual headline for the special I got) that was no interest no payments for 18 months. And now I'm paying that off and want to get bedroom furniture and the special says no interest and so I'm just concerned that I'll have a set payment every month, Anyone know?

Answer
It means that you will not have any interest rate till 2010 and still need to pay the minimum payment monthly. If you missed 1 payment then you will automatically charged whatever interest before the 2010.. e.g. 21.99% and will forfeit the no interest special till the set date.

This is one of the best deal buying furniture if you want to buy expensive furniture without paying any interest. It is like buying a $1000 couch and pay it $100 a month within 10 months your credit already been paid off without paying any additional interest before your 2010 with interest payments.

Steph

I am older but i have a small room and im wating to get a beautiful bed set but everytime i find something i like its for a queen or a full. Where do i find twin sets that still look nice and not for just kids.

i dont mind shopping at walmart but they only have colors that would not match my room and i dont like purple i dont want that in my room i was wanting something brown with tan or even a maroon with brown or tan and maybe a litle orange thrown in

Answer
I found this beautiful mattlasse set at Penney's which is available in several pretty colors to mix & match. The spice & chocolate colors are beautiful. If you go to the main page there's a similar one by Chris Madden.

With a small room you may want to save your prints for accent pillows & a coverlet. Paint your room 2 shades lighter than your bedspread color & use just a simple blind or shade for your window. Then paint your ceiling 2 shades lighter than the wall color. The only stark contrast in the room should be your trim, which will look best in a cream or white.

Make sure there's sparkle in the room with your lamps. To save space, use a swing arm lamp over your nightstand.

Pick up your accent color in your wall decor. You may want to consider using an unframed canvas print.

Using texture like this will give your room a sophisticated & interesting look. Often times a piece of wall decor that you like will be the inspiration for the rest of the room.

Hello Kitty Bedroom Ideas!?

Katrina

So far, this is what I have:

My room is currently hot pink (Flex Bon Fuchsia Kiss) and my bedding is the Peace Kitty set from Amazon.com ( http://www.amazon.com/Hello-Kitty-Peace-Full-Comforter/dp/B003ZSH4EO ). I have a full-sized bed with a white headboard and footboard. I also have two white bookcases in my room (one on each side of my door). One is skinny, has three glass shelves, three drawers, a shelf, then a cabinet on bottom which houses all of my cat's stuff (litter, food, toys, etc). The other, which is a lot wider, has a glass shelf, a space for the TV, then a fold out desk with a glass shelf, then three drawers on bottom. My room is very tiny (9' x 10' with my bedroom door in the middle of one 9' wall. I have no closet so I use the hall closet for my clothing and things). I have one window in my room with is directly across the room from the door.

I was thinking about getting one of those TV tables and adding some HK decals to it, and then painting the legs in some bright color. I donât use the fold out desk, except for storage of school things, so I want the TV table so I can use it as a desk while sitting on my bed). I have some under-bed storage containers for things, that I added some HK decals too. I have plain white sheer curtains (which I want to change), a few glass photo frames, and a few misc colored frames, which I plan on painting (spray paint). I don't have enough room to add seating to my room. I have a tall pink floor lamp. I also have two small white wall shelves which some picture frames sit on with some HK figurines. I plan to get two more shelves that match the ones I currently have and put two on each side of my window. Both sides will have pictures and HK figurines on them. I also have a shadow box which has some HK mini figurines in it. I have a coat hook on my door where I hang my bath robe, coat, and my school tote.

I want to put a hamper somewhere in my room. Maybe at the foot of my bed, behind the foot-board?

Anyone else have any ideas?

TIA!
* I got some really rude and nasty answers yesterday. If you seriously have nothing to add, don't. I will report you. *
Jenny - That Zipper-robe is cute, but is way to small for all of my clothes. The hall closet is quite large! It is a walk in closet. Plus, it's already super organized!

Answer
Hey, I know your room is small, but if you re arranged it and had a clear out you'd have a lot more space, so do this first.

Invest in this zipperobe for your clothes:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hello+kitty+zipperobe&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=9698096154&ref=pd_sl_3yxk4avqor_e

it's expensive but it fits with the theme and has a purpose too.

this tv tray seems good for what you're saying:

this is all i can suggest :D

Hi. I really need help finding a colour scheme for my bedroom. I ust have no idea what colour(s) I want it to be. By the way..I'm 16.

Answer
How about blues and brown. Hot colors right now. The blue is a medium. Do you have a Bed Bath & Beyond Store near you? They have rooms set up with color schemes. Great place to get ideas. Find bedding with your colors and add natural elements (shades, throw rug) and accents in the blues and browns (pillows, colors in the photos, candles, chair cushion, throw for the bed). Photo frames all one color, say black with the same color mattings, say white. You will be pleased.

Also, sites to check out for more inspiration:
bhg.com, choose rooms from size, color, style, you name it.
hgtv.com, many decorating shows with numerous ideas.
homemadesimple.com, do-it-yourselft, crafts, for you.

These are all great sites and FREE for your use.

Need help with some cheap vacation ideas?

Q. My husband and I have been saving our loose change (anything that's a five and under) in a tin for a while and we now have a little over $500 dollars saved and we want to go on a vacation with it. We want to vacation in the south east (FL, TN, GA, AL), we wouldn't be able to leave for an other 3-4 weeks and we'd like something that last 4-7 days. Does anyone know of a cheap vacation in the south east? Preferably something that is all inclusive and that's no more then $500 or $600 for two people. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

Answer
500 isn't very much, you'd have a hard time finding even a basic hotel for 500 a weak.
not to worry, there are a few thing you can be if your creative though.
now I'm not sure what your into but I have some ideas I shall list in order from awesome to adventurous.
how would your feal about free tickets to an event , 3 very High quality meals a day, also free, free lodging, and endless like-minded friends.
if that's in your wheelhouse, well then you my friend are an ideal candidate for a vol-cation. they work like this, find something you both like a music festival, NASCAR race, or any number of lifestyle festival that normally charge a ton of money to get in. most of them will let you in free and do everything else outlined above if you volunteer for a set amount of time.
now me personally I don't like music that much so after I'm done eating I just go site see around the area. it a boatload of fun!
the only thing I pay is gas and toll. the one I go to is in the summer but that's mostly cause it in new England where it cold. they have them all times of the year down south.

now this next one may sound unsafe due to a fictional movie off the same name, but you could stay in a hostel for $20 per night per person an most of the time get a meal or 2 or 3 included free. I've know many a folk that's stayed in a hostel and non had any trouble. you could also go from hostel to hostel and make it a road trip. my experience is that there clean, safe, and convenient

why we'll talking about road trips every one know that Amtrak can be a really slow whey to get around.
but you can use that to your advantage on a road trip by eliminating the need for a hotel room.
Amtrak Bedroom Suite's come with as many as 2 bathrooms to a suite(with showers). just find a city 8 or 10 hours away and leaving about your bed time and sleep there. meals are also included.

now if that does not tickle your funny bone, find and park(preferably one with no lights) and sleep in your trunk I love sleeping in my trunk its very cozy, like sleeping in a cocoon. might be a shave tight with 2 people, don't know I never tried it. drain pipes and under bridges can also be quite adventurous, there cool because most of the time no one will care if you build a fire why your in there, can't do that in a hotel!

what ever you choose I do hope you enjoy it!

can anyone give me tips on having a lop eared rabbit?

michele j

i am adopting a 6 month old female lop eared rabbit and i need some tips please.

Answer
Rabbits are high maintenance pets. They are not the cute nose twitching fluff balls that people think. There are many things to consider when purchasing a pet.

The start up for a rabbit will be around 500 dollars, and you should always have about $1000 set aside for emergencies. You need cage, bedding, water bottle, bowls, hay, veggies, pellets, toys(expect these to be ruined, I replace toys once a month), litter boxes, etc.

Not all rabbits are friendly. Most do not like to be held or cuddled. They freak out if they are picked up incorrectly and kick with their back legs.

They are fairly independent when they are out of their cage. I consider mine pretty friendly, tolerates being picked up, pet in cage, but even she will not let me pet her once she is out. If you don't mind watching a rabbit run and hop, then they make good pets.Rabbits have a specific diet. Under one year they need alfalfa hay, and pellets, with veggies introduced one at a time. After one year they need mostly veggies(mine gets two cups of assorted veggies, half cup pellets and timothy hay),no more alfalfa past one year. Weight needs to be maintained, as over weight rabbits will have health issues.

Rabbits need to be spayed/neutered. Males will have sexual aggression, and females can get cancers if not altered.

Rabbits need a cage large enough to hop around and should be out of their cage for several hours per day(minimum should be 6, but defiantly no less than 4). If you do not have time to allow her to run about for a few ours than rabbit ownership is not for you. It is cruel to only have her out for 1 or 2 hours a day, that would be like you only being allowed out of your bedroom for 1-2 hours. Rabbits are social creatures. They must be supervised as they chew wires, books, carpet, etc. They are destructive, I knew a person whose rabbit ripped the wallpaper off the wall. Be prepared to have bare spots in your carpet from chewing and furniture ruined

Keeping a rabbit outside is not advised as they can be killed by predators. No hutch is completely secure against dogs, raccons, etc. Your rabbit will need to be kept inside.

They most certainly smell, the urine is very potent. They urinate frequently, my rabbit can sometimes drink an entire water bottle(32 oz) in one day. There poo gets everywhere. They can be litter trained, but are not like cats that will seek out the litter box. You need several boxes all over and even then they might not use it when out of the cage. Even if the rabbit is trained now it may have some set back for awhile when it first comes into your home.

Rabbits are messy, they like to dig and throw out litter, I find poo pellet everywhere around the cage.

I have a rabbit and love her, but that is because I respect and understand the kind of pet a rabbit is. Rabbits are not for everyone, and it depends on what you are looking for. If you don't mind a pet that is not too cuddly, does thier own thing, than a rabbit may work for you. Reversely if you are looking for a pet that can be held and pet that you may want to go in a different direction.

Best place for cat litter box?

kathy

I have a two bedroom apt and it is set up a little strange. I have a 7 month old kitten and her litter box is in the bathroom next to the toilet but she is constantly getting kitty litter all over the floor and in the bathroom it can sometimes be hard to clean up, is there any other place in the house that the litter box can go?

Answer
You could get a litter box with a cover ( http://catscornervideo.com/store/images/cat_litter_box.jpg ).

The bathroom is probably the best place. I wouldn't put it in the living room. lol.

Im hearing squirrel noises in my bedroom wall, should i remove the squirrels?

Hmmmmm?

Im hearing squirrel noises in my bedroom wall, should i remove the squirrels?
i don't know if they are making a nest or having babies, so that's why I don't want to intrude, Should i remove them, if so, how? I don't know if they are having or had babies yet, i don't want to put the babies in danger. However, they make a lot of noise, and they are in the wall in my bedroom. What do i do? I live in new york in a suburban area if this helps you to give a proper answer. Thank you for all your help!

Answer
You need to set up a nifty little trap to catch these invaders. First you will need a few items:

1. large container of mixed nuts (make sure it has cashews as these are the favorite of the bushy tailed vermin)
2. 12 ft of 3 inch PVC pipe
3. 20 inch box fan (oscillating will work also)
4. 1 pinwheel
5. a Bird Whistle
6. 4 ears of corn
7. 2 rolls of duct tape
8. 1 stick of butter
9. laundry basket
10. Large bag of gummi worms
11. Drywall saw
12. Stethescope or Empty Drinking glass
13. 8 ft nylon rope
14. 12 inch ruler
15 invisible thread (fishing line will do the trick)
16. Burlap sack

Step 1: Open the bag of gummy worms and begin to eat them. Use the stethescope to pinpoint their location in the wall. Measure over at least 36 inches left or right and make sure its 1 foot off the floor. Cut a hexagon shaped hole 3 inch diameter. Make sure you sprinkle the 1 ear of corn inside the pipe and grease the inside with butter to allow ease of movement. Insert one end of the PVC pipe into the hole and cut a similar hole on the opposite side of the room to insert the other end of the pipe. You may need to cut the pipe to fit... and if you do... grease the cut end with butter as well.

step 2: Still on the opposite wall.. offset 36 inches in the opposite direction that you did last time making a 10 inch Square hole on floor level (should be directly across from the squirrels). Attatch the rope to the ceiling with the duct tape and also tape the pinwheel to the bottom of the rope keeping it at least 4 iinches off the floor.

Step 3: Now the trap... place the fan in one corner of the room facing the hole. Place the open can of mixed nuts directly in front of the fan... eat a few if you are hungry at this point. This is the bait to truly get them to commit. In another corner of the room (in plain view of the hole) you will set the laundry basket facing down propped up with the 12 inch ruler with a length of fishing line attatched to the bottom of it. Place 3 ears of corn under the basket. You will stand in the other corner making sure that the squirrels cannot see you from the hole and wait... holding one end of the string attatched to the ruler.
Step 4: initiate the trap. Blow the bird whistle as this frequency drives squirrels crazy because they think the birds are getting all the food. Turn on the fan to start the nut smell traveling through the wall and down the pipe and to the squirrel nest. If all goes as planned the male sqiurrel should immediately travel down the pipe as it is his paternal instinct to provide food for his babies (if there are some) when he comes out he will see the corn in the corner of the room and go for it. WHen under the basket pull string and viola, you have a squirrel in a basket. Now it should be preoccupied with the corn and not even notice you. Sneak over.. .tooting on the biird whistle to confuse it and grab it by the tail and insert into the bag. Repeat for follow on squirrels. If there are babies... you may need to keep this trap set up for several weeks until they are able to walk and will also fall for it.
Step 5. sit back and enjoy the rest of your gummi worms.

Best of luck!!

If this doesn't work... it may not be squirrels... it could be illegal aliens.. .and you should call INS

I desperately need a full bedroom set for 800$ or less!?

Ashley

I am about to go into college and am trying to find furniture for realllly cheap and am on a VERRRRY tight budget. All I need is a queen size bed frame, six drawer dresser, & 2 night stands for me and my Hubby. :) I would appreciate any help at helping me find this cheap furniture.

Answer
try www.craigslist.com, my son found an awesome bedroom set for 900. they have it for your area.

what are some good white furniture sets around $800?

tori

For my 12th birthday I really want to re-do my green furniture flower room into a room with teal blue walls, and white furniture. I've been looking at Bobs online store and I like the Tribeca youth becuase it comes with the dresser, mirror, desk, smaller dresser, nightstand and the shiny white furniture, but I don't like how above the mirror it has striped wood, and how the bed has foot rails. I need a twin bed becuase I already have a twin mattress. I have found a bed set that comes to all of my needs but theres no desk, so i cant have that. It also has to be all wood and around $800 ($700-$900). So if you can find me one and give me the link I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks (and btw how much does a gallon of paint cost?)

Answer
I think you are going to have a near impossible task before you if you are trying to find a bedroom set that has a bed, dresser with mirror, desk, small dresser and nightstand in ALL WOOD in the price range you've stipulated. You might find a set that has every piece of furniture you need, in white, but not ALL WOOD for the price you've set. The set at Bob's is nice and the price is even better. I think you are onto something when you asked about the paint. Can you paint your existing furniture white? You would need a semi-gloss or glossy paint which can be had for as little as $15 a gallon.

Easy Bedroom Help!! (will choose best answer!)

I'm 15 and I'm going to redo my room. I was thinking black and white with an accent color like red. Can you please help me find a new bed set/comfortor or duvet? Or any other ideas for my room? Thanks soo much!
â¥emily

Answer
Go with old hollywood glamour!

Target has big black and white posters of marilyn monroe and audrey hepburn! Very chic and inexpensive!

Red and black are difficult colors to do on a whole wall because you have to do multiple layers. Try a black border around the top. About 9 or 10 deep. Hang these curtains over windows http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40120944 ... if you hang them at the ceiling, it gives the illusion of a much bigger room!

Ikea has a lot of really cute and inexpensive accessories that would help make your room pop!

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/youth_room

#7 and #9 are what I'm thinking for accessories. Mirrors on the wall, rich colors, heavy fabrics.

chinadoll

Heey

i would like some chic but cheap furniture and does anyone no where i can get a cheap but stylish sofa bed? oh and my room is tiny so i ca go over board with the stuff :]

Please help?

Answer
Go to thrift stores, wholesalers, and rummage sales. You'll be surprised at what you can find, and don't be afraid to haggle over the prices.

You can try some fun new wall hangings, and throw rugs (even on carpet, if you have carpet). You can pack away all your what-nots and get some new themed ones of your favorite stuff.

Try to be creative and don't be afraid to like or dislike stuff.

Best of luck!

Need some ideas for a bedroom on a budget??

sweetiepie

Just rented a house trying to decorate a romantic and relaxing bedroom for me and my bf on a budget. Also my land lord wont let me paint the walls and they have wood paneling. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Please no rude comments.

Answer
You can get some ideas from Threadbanger (via YouTube) or Instructables.com

Instructables.com has "instructables" on how to make furniture. If not, you can join a FreeCycle group for free furniture or buy them cheap at yard/garage/moving sales (Craiglist has listings).

Threadbangers has a lot of videos for home decor. Check them out!

Threadbanger even has a video on what to do with wood paneling when your landlord won't let you do anything do them! They said to use decals. If they're too expensive for you, online sources can tell you how to make your own.

teen girl bedroom redecorating ideas?

Emelia C

i have had the same bedroom since i was 10! and i am now 13! it's a little to much pink, baby blue and yellow. and i was planning on redecorating sometime soon. it would be very helpful if you could give me some ideas or a link to a website that might help :) i'm not necessarily on a low budget but i cant spend a lot

some ideas for my bedroom are
-colourful
-fun
-cozy
-and just stuff like signs that say: laugh, love, ect.

Answer
You're right, a bedroom should be all of those things! I'm a teenage girl too and I'm currently in the middle of decorating my bedroom! I've got some ideas for you here but just to give you a few ideas I'm doing my bedroom with purple, pink, and lime green. I've painted the wall behind my bed a really nice purple colour and I have a gorgeous purple, pink, and green bedding set. I'm gonna buy some cute lamps and a rug for my room and then I think I'll be done! Here are some ideas for your room:
First off, get a theme or colour scheme. For example, you could decorate your room in a shabby-chic style or maybe a more glamorous movie-star theme! It's up to You! If you don't want a theme then just get a colour scheme. Say, bright candy-apple green and lollipop pink! This can look AMAZING! This is a website with lots of different themes. Just click on the themes in the top left-hand corner for inspiration!

http://themeroomideas.com/Victorian/Vintâ¦

http://themeroomideas.com/Marie-Antoinetâ¦

Move around your furniture if you think it will look better with, say, the bed under the window and your desk near the door. Now buy your bedding, paint, and curtains, as these can really change a room! Buy bedding that either matches your paint or is in a coordinating colour. Look at these websites or Google around for ideas and pictures!

http://www.home-designing.com/2008/09/teâ¦

http://www.roomdecoratingideas.net/blackâ¦

You colud paint all your walls, just one accent wall behind the bed, (This is what I did in my room! :D ) or you could do stripes or wallpaper! It's up to you!

Once you've got your basics, do the really fun part. Shopping! Bring a friend if you like and go to lots of different shops. Try to look out for...
Beanbags,
Floor cushions,
Mirrors,
Wall Art,
Cute Furniture like trunks that you can store stuff in!
Lamps,
A cool headboard,
An area or accent rug (This is quite important!)
And stuff like that.

I think that's a great idea to do signs around the place! There are different ways you could do this:
*If you're creative, You could use blackboard paint and either paint maybe a whole wall of it or just a section, maybe in a cool heart or star shape! Then you can write and draw and scribble all over it as much as you like! The best part is, it'll be super-easy to put up a new word or phrase whenever you want to!
*You could also just paint, write or stencil directly onto the wall with whatever words you like. How about writing someting like "Freindship" or "Love" above your bed or window?! Ask your parents first though!
*If you don't want to do any of these, you can buy wooden letters from a craft shop and decorate them any way you want, then either attach them to the wall with glue, arranch them on a shelf, or hang them from the ceiling with pretty ribbons!

You can also display medals & trophies you've won, framed school papers, photos and general treasures to personalise your room. Have fun and enjoy it and if you're girlie, don't forget Fairy Lights!

Check out websites like these too:

Have fun and make it you!

Bedroom decorating ideas?

Buffy

I am decorating my bedroom with a theatre theme (broadway-theatre, not movie theatre...) and I am stuck. I plan to have a wall in my room be covered by an NYC skyline, and I have a few playbills framed on a shelf, but aside from that, I don't know what else to do... I really want it to be completely themed, rather than, you know, a poster here, a mask there.... I have a lot of shelves and things like that, and not a TON of room... What other things could go into a really cool broadway themed bedroom? What colors should be the focus of the room? Accents? Decor? Bedding? Anything else? Really specific ideas are more than welcome... =)

Answer
Two color choices came to mind. Black and silver for a contemporary look or Maroon for an old stage look. But, I think if you have a skyline on one wall, you should definitely go with the black and silver. I'm a fan of drapes behind the bed also make sure you start your drapes at the ceiling for a dramatic look. I don't know if you have seen mirrored furniture but you can get chest of drawers in solid mirror and that would look great with the silver and black theme. I would accent with a lot of mirrored furniture. Make the room cozier with a throw rug - like a white, shaggy rug in the middle of the room. Or maybe a sitting area to one side with a rug and coffee table. I would definitely replace the typical ceiling fan most rooms have with a chandelier. If you're on a budget, you can always get chandeliers for next to nothing at salvage shops like Salvation Army and Goodwill. But, yeah... you got to get rid of the ceiling fan to really put the look over. Don't forget you can spray paint some chandeliers with glossy enamels like glossy black for example. Also, hang up some mirrors as well. Maybe paint the ceiling a light grey to get rid of the stark white look. You might even consider painting the walls black. I know that sounds really stark but I have seen that look good. It would also help to make the room look smaller. Try out the colors with a room visualizer software. Standing plant like palm tree plants also help to make a room look more expensive. Make sure to put the plant basket in a sharp looking planter. Hope some of these suggestions helped!
