The Home Depot has a Disney line of paint, made by Behr I think. It has specific color schemes for the Disney princesses which should make it easy to coordinate with the room. There are lots of shades of lilac and pink you could play with. We painted my daughter's desk with Wave of the Wand which is a cool mauvey color. Even the shades of blue like Cinderella Glass Slipper/ Bibbidi Bobbidi Blue or green like Tinkerbell could look really great too.

You probably dont want to paint it lilac or pin because it be kind of overbearing with the rest of the room so Id repaint it a low gloss white and edge it in either lilac or pink or find a way to incorporate the lilac/pink into it like little daisies or small crowns

I think you are asking about the same rollaway bed I have. This one is a Riviera Roll Away Bed from Absolute Comfort On Sale and I've enjoyed it for about a year now. I was searching online so that I can buy another one for my dad when I saw this question and felt I could provide some valuable information.

I bought my Riviera bed at http://www.absolutecomfortonsale.com/roll-away-bed.htm and it seems to be the only bed available by that name, so I presume it is the same one you are asking about. As I already mentioned, I have had it about a year. I originally bought it for a guest and she really liked it. It folds up nicely and is easy to store, so after she left I put it in a closet and forgot about it. Then I had a leak in my roof and had to have some renovations done in my bedroom, and the dust and smell kept me from wanting to sleep there until the work was done. Then I remembered this guest bed and pulled it out, and then slept on it myself in my own living room for about a week. At first I didn't like the idea of spending a week on it, but I slept really well. It was surprisingly comfortable! I am also pretty tall, and it is longer than I needed, which is a major plus for a bed that folds up so compactly.

I haven't had any problems with the bed and have used it a couple more times for guests over the course of the year. It is very sturdy, yet I can move it around on my own because of the great wheels it has. It is a little easier to fold up and down with a second person, though I have managed to do it all on my own.

I am buying a new one because my dad is having surgery soon. The doctor said he shouldn't climb stairs for a month or so, which means he can't get to his bedroom. Since I know this bed is comfortable and sturdy enough, I decided to get him one so that we can set it up in his downstairs office for him to sleep on until he's all healed up.

I think you'll love the bed as much as I have!

Hey, I'm looking for some cheaper surround sound speakers for my bedroom. It's kind of a smaller room and I need something that will easily hookup to my 32" Samsung 720p. And only a couple hundred at most, I'm not looking for the most fancy, just something that could make my horror movies work for me a bit more. Any recommendations?

Surround sound is one thing. You need a 5.1 speaker set and a receiver. Sound bars or 2.1 systems can plug right into the TV. If your budget is $200 don't bother with a surround sound system. The only ones you'll find for that amount are garbage. So look for a sound bar or a 2 speaker and sub configuration. Check CNet.com for reviews of such devices.

There are three things used in elevators because of the constant use/abuse they receive. Finished metal (usually powder coated), high pressure laminate (super Formica) and vinyl wallpaper. A hallway and or stairs always gets used twice (once going - once returning) and you are always close to the walls. When you add in the fact that hallways are non-entities (when was the last time you said "I'm going to the hallway and then to the bedroom?") or a forgotten step in getting from a to b. A subtle faux finish vinyl paper can help set up whatever is coming after it without drawing too much attention to itself, and it will last 5 years longer than you should leave it up. The average life of good vinyl paper is 4 to 6 paint jobs! Good Luck!

Welcome to Singapore. Yes, sure one can live decently in Singapore for SGD4000 or less.

You can rent a 3-Room (2 Bedroom + 1 Living Hall size approx 600-700sq ft) Housing Development Board (HDB) Flat for about 30-35% of your monthly income. Please be wary of con-Landlord as the whole HDB flat are NOT suppose to be rented out unless the owner has approval from HDB. Get a licenced property agent to help you on this but there will be a agency fees of "half month rental" per 1-year of lease. Usually flat comes fully furnished with Sofa, CTV, dining set, bedding set, wardrobe, kitchen cabinet, fridge and washing machine.

Rental cover Maintenance Fees & Property Tax. But you got to pay your own utilities bills should you rent the whole unit instead of just a room. Usually renting a room would not allow you access to the kitchen. Electrical & Water Bill usually cost SGD100-150 per month depend if your unit comes with air-conditioner and also depend on your usage. TV licence cost SGD110 per year. Cable TV, Broadband & Mobile are also very affordable, depend on your preference, cost about SGD130-200 per month.

Depends on what you like or what your interests are. The number one thing that I believe is to shop around!

Pick a style you like. For example, my room is Indian style. I found a comforter set at JcPenny's, then shopped around for reasonable decorative pillows. I found them at Pier1. Then for pictures I just looked up some pictures on Google with the word "India" and came up with some more good ideas along with pictures that I could enlarge and get printed and hang on a wall for decoration. I also found a few book ends with their gods on them and some other cute decorations at Romancing the Stone.

My personal opinion is just to find a style that you like, and stick with it. Possibly look in Better Homes & Gardens or any home decor magazine at Low's maybe... Also watch alot of those channels on tv where they makeover rooms. Can't think of the name of them offhand, but I'm sure if you look around you can find them. They are usually on the same channels as the DIY stuff. They provide ALOT of ideas, and inspire you to come up with your own.

As an American, you will be granted a 21 day visa waiver on arrival in the Philippines, so long as you have an onward ticket to another country and 6 months validity in your passport. If you want to stay longer than 21 days, you can arrange an extension. The first extension is for 38 days. After that, extensions can be arranged 2 months at a time until you have been in the Philippines for 16 months.

It will be hard to arrange a lease for just 3 months. My suggestion is that you live in a hotel or live in condo style accommodation in a hotel for 3 months.

For instance, when I live in Cebu City, I stay in a family room in the Cebu Century Hotel. It is low class but I am happy there. It is P18,000 (about usd $370 on the current exchange rate) per month. For P18,000 I have a 32 square metre (344 square foot) room with; 3 beds, private bathroom, aircon, cable tv with about 60 channels, free local telephone calls, internet and room service until 3am. Some one makes up the room every day. Living at the Cebu Century hotel means not having to worry about any utility bills. If you want better class accommodation in Cebu City, there are hotels with 1 bedroom condos starting at about usd $500 per month.

In the future, when you have a Filipina girlfriend, you could set her up in an apartment and live with her when you are not working.

By the way, you may find it so cheap to live in the Philippines that you end up only working a few months of the year and spend the rest of the year relaxing in the Philippines.

I know all housing are different, but are more or less the same size. E-5 on post housing.... will the bedroom fit a king size set? (bed, dresser, chest, and nightstand?) By the way it is just a two bedroom.
If we get rid of the dresser would it fit?

It can be a very tight fit in some locations and not in others. A King size bed will take up a lot of room .Housing sizes really do vary from base to base there is no standards at all. You should keep the dresser and put it in your closet or 2nd bedroom if you don't have children or somewhere as storage. Or use the chest as a coffee table/storage in another room. Sometimes even closets aren't the greatest and a dresser is needed.

We have lived in several places over the years, including 2 bedrooms. One place was 22 x 12 with walk in closet that was out of this world and another place was more like 11 x 11 and a very tight fit.

Where are some good places to get new stuff for re-decorating a teenage bedroom?

I need to re-decorate my room....badly. I have no idea where to get some teenage stuff for my bedroom. It can't be to expensive. My budget is 2000$ I mean like redecorating as in a new head-board, new chandelire,new everything.

Well start off by figuring out what you have in mind. Any certain theme? Colors? You have a pretty nice budget to work with so you can really do whatever you want.
First comes your bed. I dont know your area but Im sure that your parents know the local furniture shops and can help you find a nice deal on the bed frame/headboard that you like. Once you get that figured out, find out what bed set youd like. This can go along with any theme that you have in mind or just be based off of your favorite color or colors. Once you have found the perfect bed set, its time to move on.
Are you painting your room? If so, get that done before you put any of your new things in there. Go for a crisp white room or a shade or tint of your favorite color, which would match with your new bed set.
Now youve got freshly painted walls and an emtpy room. Put your new bed in first, wherever you want, personally I think beds look best centered on one wall with matching end tables on each side. On these end tables you could get a funky lamp and a new alarm clock. Places like walmart or target have really cute things like that.

Next comes the floor. Do you have carpet in there already? If you do, or even if you have wood floors, theres no need to get a new carpet in there. Its unnessecary and expensive as all hell. Just go with a nice area rug that matches your room. You can find these anywhere in your area, again, your parents would know where to look for this.

Now work on entertainment. Would you like a t.v.? A dvd player? A nice radio? Pick those things up and get a nice entertainment center. That way it will hold all of your electronics and also your cds, dvds, video games, ect. It will be neat and organized and all in one place.

Now work on your closet. Maybe pick up a new dresser or cute storage bins for your clothes. Try to keep things like that all in one area, like your clothes, shoes, makeup, jewlery. This way you have one specified area to get ready in, instead of running all around your room in the morning.

Maybe you could invest in a nice futon or a loveseat for your room, for when you have a friend over or when you just dont feel like laying in bed.

Now to top it all off, buy some nice picture frames and maybe posters, just some nice simple things to decorate your bare walls.

I'm moving into a new house, and have had to take the smallest bedroom. We won't really be able to afford new furniture so I'll have to make do with the bed I have (a single with drawers underneath for storage) How can I maximise space for study and relaxing?

A bedroom 7 feet by 8 feet is a real challenge. Put the bed against the back wall and the side wall. Next to the bed put a desk about 4 feet wide.

On the desk, place a lamp on the end close to the bed so you can use it to read by when you're in bed and close enough so you can turn it on and off.

Across from the bed about 2 feet away from the desk, put your dresser, about 4 feet high so you can put a television set on top of it and watch it from the bed.

Have everything the same color, except for a bright toss pillow om the bed and your wall hangings, posters or pictures. This last is very important. Make sure they are bright and fun to look at. Travel posters are useful for this. If the walls are a pearl white, the furniture will be best painted the same color, the headboard, the desk, and the dresser. Bedspread and curtains should be white or gray.

Or paint your walls a soft yellow, and use the same color for the headboard, desk, dresser. The bedspread and the curtains can be the same color or a little bit darker.

The other choice for color schemes that can work out nicely are soft gray and taupe. Just remember to keep everything the same color, just varying the intensity.

How would you go about putting I-beams under an existing double wide?

I want to block or brick the outside and add a bedroom and garage. I was thinking of using I-beams to support the double wide so it wouldn't flex and it wouldn't cause me any problems with the additions. I would pour a 2 foot footing with rebar and also have piers. How would you go about this since I already live i it?

Block walls are heavy, and need a proper foundation. The foundation has to be installed 1 ft below the frost line, or it will heave unevenly.

You dig a perimeter trench 36" deep around the outside of you trailer, and a second trench for your addition and garage. You pour a foundation 1 ft deep by 3' ft wide, with re-bar at the bottom of your trench. You then lay 16" block up to grade. At grade you can switch to 12 inch block with brick on the front. About 2 feet above grade you run your beam down the middle. It is best if you can jack up your trailer 6 inches, and then set it down on the blocks. The trailer frame will act as the sil plate.

Maybe have a nice lounge next to the window with a reading lamp (really tall ones that set on the floor). You can pick up single lounges really cheap from opshops...

A peice of art either on a hall table (again- cheap from opshop) or a framed painting on a wall.

Some single colour curtains will help to finnish your room, as will a nice clear floor.

Ultimately keep your room uncluttered.

i need some help about moving and new york city?

i am 21 yers old/female and i am graduating from college in may. i will have my degree as a high school history teacher. anyway, i am from pittsburgh, pa and i have never gone away to school or left home, so i want to move somewhere this summer to be on my own. i have been to nyc plenty of times and i love it there. i want to move there for june, july, and august, and if i don't like it i can come back home.

i need to be on my own for a while and experience new things. while i am there i would like to look for a job teaching and see if anything comes up. okay, so here's what i need advice on. first, is it possible to find a place that i can live at for only the summer? is it possible that its furnished? i have a brand new bedroom set and bed at my house, but i dnt want send it to nyc (8 hr drive!!) also, any decent areas i cld stay at? i have no one to live with and only about $800-1000 for rent a month. also i will probably leave my car at home.

Your best bet is a sublease from a student who will be going home for the summer. Check with the local college to see what newspaper they have on campus. I would not move any furniture for just the summer. You don't have much money for rent, so if you can't sublease it will be difficult for you.

Is it my landlord's responsibility to install new doors *in* my apartment?

So I'm living in what was advertised as a 3BR apartment with two other people, but one of them is my girlfriend so we only use two rooms as bedrooms.

However, we've all decided we don't like the way the rooms are set up, and the GF and I would like to move into the "master bedroom" -- but it doesn't have any doors. Is it our landlord's responsibility to pay for and install them?

How you use the rooms provided to you is decided by you, however, you cannot make changes to the rooms without first getting permission from the landlord.
Don't like the set up of the apartment? Too bad. Use it like its to be used. If you want to use your living room as a bedroom but can't because it doesn't have doors....duh, its a living room. Don't like it? Move out.
I'm sure there are hundreds of people willing to move right in as soon as you go.

Perhaps if its so important to get doors on the room, you can ask your landlord for permission to put them up yourself (which also means paying for them yourself). Do not ask for him to pay, he may laugh in your face, or deny the doors outright, or ask you to leave. All depends on his personality.

We have used Rent-a-Center. What's great baout them is, if you have to let it go back, you can start again at any time nd pick up where you left off. You don't lose anything. It has to be a similar thing though, like if you rented a washing machine and paid over half, then lost your job and had to let it go back, you can get another washing machine later and all the payments you paid before apply to the new one.

I have a black 7 piece queen size bedroom set with two night stands, a dresser and a mirror that I purchased for $1600 about 16 months ago. I also paid $600.00 for some pillow top mattresses. Everything looks brand new. Someone offered $700. How much should I sell it for? Mattresses included.

The best answer is whatever you can get for it, I think $700 isn't a good price for it, but it's most probably close to what it's worth at most.

When you buy new, you're paying for the over heads as well. If you place an add in a free online site saying what you have is new or bought 2 weeks ago, you'd be very lucky to get 70% of that $2200 you paid for it. Reason being that buying from a store you have in general an amount of consumer protection for the most part.

What most people don't understand, is that the store bought that product or those goods for a fraction of what they sold it for, to cover their over heads. My Ex used to work for a big department store, I was surprised to find out that some items have a 500% mark up, I'm not saying there was a 500% mark up on your goods, but I'm guessing at least 100% if not more.

Where can I buy a kit to resilver a mirror?

You will need Rochelle Salts, Ammonia and Silver Nitrate, lots of distilled water and lots of elbow-grease. Cleaning is the most difficult part of the entire task.

You can make or purchase Rochelle Salts, you must purchase the Silver Nitrate and the Ammonia. Neither is a controlled substance. Silver Nitrate is not all that cheap, but you won't need much.

I have used exactly this process to re-silver some panels on an old Sparton 558 radio. With care, it works very nicely. The key, again, is cleanliness. When you are done, several coats of lacquer on top will prevent the silver from oxidizing - you should be good for 75 years or so.

How do I add an internal window?

I would like to add a little light into my bathroom via my bedroom. Any suggestions on how to install a window through a blank internal (non load bearing) wall would be appreciated!

There are several ways to do it, but basically you need to verify it is non-load bearing by looking at it from the attic to make sure nothing is bearing on it. Verify that there are no electrical or plumbing lines runing through the area. (If there are, you will either need to relocate yourself, or hire someone to re-route wiring and pipes)
1) Determine what height you want the top of the window to be at.
2) Cut the studs and sheetrock 6" above the top of the window to allow for a 2x6 header and sheetrock (5.5" for header, 0.5" for sheetrock)
3) Frame in a king stud and jack stud on the sides and underneath header. (This will require removing more sheetrock to the sides of the opening, up to the ceiling and down to the floor on one side of the wall)
4) Frame in underneath window, setting height for base of window and adding cripple studs underneath sill.
5) Repair Sheetrock (Tape, Float, Texture and Paint until opening is finished like room and bathroom)
6) Have a glass company measure and install piece of tempered glass in-between frame kleats in opening space.

Anyone have any tips on how to give an uncooperative cat his medicine?

1. Pick up the cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm
as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either
side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while
holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth.
Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from under chair. Cradle cat
in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take a new pill from foil wrap. Cradle cat in left arm holding
rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill
to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top
of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between the knees. Holding
front and rear paws, ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse
to hold cat's head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler
into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap.
Make a note to buy a new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully
sweep shattered figurines from hearth and set aside for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with it's head
just visible from beneath spouse's armpit. Put pill in end of drinking
straw, force cat's mouth open with pencil and blow down straw.

9. Check label to make sure that pill is not harmful to humans. Drink
glass of water to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm
and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10.Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in
cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force
mouth open with spoon, flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put door back on hinges. Apply
cold compress to cheek and check records for last tetanus shot.
throw t-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call the fire department to retrieve cat from tree across the road.
Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid
cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly
to leg of dining room table. Find heavy duty pruning gloves from garage.
Force cat's mouth open with small trowel. Push pill into mouth followed}
by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour 1/2 pint
of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Get spouse to drive you to emergency room. Sit quietly
while doctor stitches finger and forearm and removes pill remnants
from right eye. Stop by furniture store on the way home to order
a new table.

15. Arrange for vet to make housecall.

I'm thinking about selling my furniture before I move. I have tons of stuff: queen bedroom set, trundle bed, desk, dinning room table, kitchen table, couches, coffee tables and end tables.

Selling furniture is really tricky, because you will have to ask much less than the furniture is worth, and then not even get the asking price.
Sometimes it is better to donate it to a non profit, then you will get a tax write off that might be even more than the cash you would get from selling it.
If you do want to sell it, give yourself plenty of time......it is hard to sell things in a rush.
I would suggest using Craigslist.org

Be sure to take pictures of all the things you are selling, then put them on a photo sharing site, then include a link to it in your craigslist add. Also include a couple of photos in the ad itself.

Next, be prepared to have your time wasted by non serious inquiries, people who stand you up (say they will come to buy the furniture, then don't), people who want to haggle you down to an unrealistically low price, and worst, people who have unrealistic expectations, like for you to ship it to their house.

Be very clear in your expectations: cash only, pick up only.

Also, don't be afraid to throw in a freebie or two.... for example, if someone buys your couch, throw in an end table or a lamp.

Selling furniture is hard, time consuming, and you might not sell all of it.

So keep your expectations realistic, give yourself plenty of time, and don't let yourself get screwed.
