Which monarchy is the most expensive to maintain?
Q. Of all the world monarchies, i would like to know which one is the most expensive to maintain. Alot of people in the UK seem to complain about how much the british royal family costs the tax payer. Yet some say british royalty is one of the cheapest to maintain, if so, which country spends the most on its royal family?

A. Many of the monarchs are ultra-wealthy in their own right, like Bahrain, Oman, Saudi, Brunei, Qatar, United Arab emirates, and Thailand. As billionaires in their own right they are not really maintained. However, the cost of the yachts, fleets of rolls royces, and jets gives a rough idea of how much is spent on their personal needs, and it is much more than spent on the UK monarchy.
----------------------------------------------
The Japanese monarchy is structured as a constitutional monarchy, and they spend about as much per person as the UK, but they have twice as many people (so twice the costs). Costs are tremendous.
---------------------------------------------
In Europe the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands spend much more person than the UK, but they are also much smaller countries. I mean Denmark is 5 million people.
--------------------------------------------
I'm not absolutely sure about Spain because they are not as public with their costs.
============================
In general for a head of state, Queen Elizabeth costs relatively nothing. Most of her expenses are for maintenance of palaces which would be maintained if the UK became a republic. She has no wild personal tastes. As a little extravegance she took a helicopter to Kentucky Derby when she came to the US two years ago, purely because she is a fan of horse races and this would be the last chance in her life to see this particular race. The Americans loved having her there. IMHO we probably spend more on the US secretary of state than the UK spends on The Queen.
-----------------------
The Princes Charles and Andrew are a little more enamored with over the top luxuries than their mother. Although Andrew gets a lot of crap from the media, I think Charles is the worst one in the family. He expenses things that his mother would never do.
-------------------
Mind you some of the expenses are high even for an upper level businessman. The royal train is fairly expensive way to travel a few hundred miles a day. But if you see photos it actually looks like a budget motel on wheels. It doesn't look anything like the train cars of the ultra wealthy in the 19th century. But it is a concession to monarchy. The Queen has an office on the train, she can bring medical equipment, she sleeps in a secret predetermined location on a rail siding so their are no security concerns with strange hotels, and when she comes into town in her scarlet coaches it is a bit of a celebration that the whole family can enjoy. My personal opinion is that they should keep the train until she dies. As she reaches her 90's it will be harder and harder for her to go around the country.
==================
Personal jets are a huge expense for any head of state. The royal family has a personal helicopter, but it is used almost exclusively by the children. The Queen finds them obnoxious and loud, and very rarely gets on it.
--------------------
In general I am not saying anything new. I think a lot of Brits are bothered by the expenses of the royal family, and not those of the monarch.
=================
I maintain a particular annoyance that Charles flies around the UK in massive oversize jets that he leases. For a man who makes every other speech about the environment, I think he could set an example and fly around the UK where round trips are seldom above 650 miles in a turboprop. I don't care if it's the fanciest sexiest turboprop on the planet, but he doesn't need a conference room and a bedroom if he is flying for less than one hour each way. It's a small country, and even high level businessman fly around in very light jets for four passengers with no bathroom. You can rent a four passenger jet at the same airport the royals use for £2,600 that will take you round trip for the day to anywhere in the UK. When I see Charles spend £33,400 for an overnight trip to Belfast (310 miles each way), I think he is an environmental hypocrite. Does he need a plane big enough so that he can jog around a track for the one hour that he's in the air?

What is a Cheap Way to Decorate a Guest Bedroom --?
Q. I have a queen sized bed and dresser and that is it. Should I add a mirror and what are some cheap ideas to add to the room in general????

Thanks!!!

A. You have a good start. Keep it simple. A mirror or picture of horses and a night stand with a lamp would be nice touches. Put a vase of flowers (can be artificial) on the dresser. Add a colorfull quilt and some throw pillows to the bed and you are set.

What are some easy ways to rid your house of ants?
Q. I have ants and they invade our kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. is there any easy, cheap way to rid my home of ants? We tried Raid and those little flower looking ant traps that you set on the floor. We dont want to do anything too harsh because we have a 3 month old. We dont want to resort to extermination unless its an absolute must. Please help. Thanks <3

A. Go to Home Depot get this stuff called 'Terro Ant Bait'. I swear by this stuff! Place a drop of it where you see ants, they'll eat it up like it's candy, then they'll take it back home and kill the queen! Stuff is cheap!
