Answer
it would be super comfy with a great looking king size bed that is so soft that i sink on it, apart from bed, i will have a great looking 40 inch tv on the oppsite wall to the bed where i can watch tv when i want, lying down or sitting up

then i would want a huge set of cabinets, either an entertainment center in middle of which my tv is accomodated along with shelves for my dvd and music system and a seperate area for display, i would dedicate the top of my cabinet area for display with a glass where i would display all my miniatures i got from london and dubai and malaysia, they are so cute i wana see them all the time

along with this, there will be an added section for books, of course with glass doors so i can have a look at my precious collection whenever i want, this will completely occupy the opposite wall to the bed and make a great storage area as well, on the othe wall i have my dresser and closet, all 4 corners of the room occupied with good looking and strong bedroom wooden furniture while the middle space i have left empty to walk around with a nice colorful rug to fill it up

i love my room really and its so comfortable for me as my cabinets store away all the things that i want to keep hidden leaving the room neat and organized

Mode of Transportation in Brunei?

Allan Troy

Our entire family will be moving to Brunei. I'd like to know what the mode of transportation is there and how everyday go about. Can you give me an idea with regard to the regular fare to get from one point to another especially in Bandar Seri Begawan? Also apartment rates and daily expenses?

Answer
Living in Brunei is like living in a country side and yet with all the city facilities within you reach.

There is this phrase there 'without a car, as if you have 1 leg broken'.
Seriously you MUST have a car to live over there. Worry not, cars are simply too cheap due to no taxes. I sold my honda civic (8years old) at BND$3K when i left 5 years ago. Thats how cheap it is.

It will be a joke for Bruneian to take public transport, vehicle ownership is four (4) vehicles per household. May i repeat, vehicle ownership is four (4) vehicles per household. They have extensive network of roads and highways.

Dont be surprise, bus services only started somewhere in 1998 on limited routes and are packed with foreign labours. Well, thats what they are meant for.
Taxi services are also available though the no is very much limited and be ready for a shock on the fare. Imagine, less than 50 taxis (fifty) for the whole country and they are mostly at the airport.

Another surprise, they dont live in apartments but detached houses. My previous employer paid BND800 for our 3-bedrooms detached house some 10km away from the city. Thanks to the tax free regime, groceries though 99% imported are still very much reasonably priced. As a guidance, KFC lunch set cost BND7.99 (2 pcs of chix, coleslaw, mashed potato, 12 oz carbonated drink). A buffet dinner at Royal Brunei airport restaurant cost BND39.00 exc drinks, no tax and no tippings.

You can join the Brunei Yatch club to hang around with the foreigners.

Everything is cheaper on the other side of the Malaysian border. Just be prepared to follow the weekly cross-border routine of the foreigners, locals alike. For entertainment/shopping, you can cross the western border to MIRI in Sarawak Malaysia. Some 2.5 hours smooth driving from Bandar Seri Begawan. For a quick drinks, you can reach KUALA LURAH, adjacent to the southern immigration complex in 30 minutes drive from the city. Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia is a young vibrant city 20 minutes flight away from the city.

I had enjoyed my 10 years of working/living there and wish you all the luck.
