Okay So I locked my self out of my room, it was a simple golden key door lock sets i got at Menards for $20. If i buy the same brand and same lock i got at menards can i use that key to open my door?

Answer
Let me see if I understand your question. You want to buy a new lock set so you can use the key that comes with it to open a door at your house? It won't work even if it's the same brand because inside the knob are 5 pins that can be at least 8 different lengths. That makes the possible key variations 5 to the eighth power so your odds of finding one with the same key pretty slim. Otherwise thieves and siblings (sometimes they're the same people) could just buy one knob from each manufacturer to have a master key to any door. Speaking of which, locksmiths have master keys for most door knob manufacturers.

I'm guessing this is a door to a bedroom and not the front door to an apartment or house. And you have a keyed lock on it, not one that has a little hole in the middle of the outside knob? Because if it was one of those, you could just put a big bobby pin bent into an "L", a jewelers' screwdriver, or a bent curtain hanger into it and push the plunger inside to release the mechanism. Even if it isn't, if you're really lucky, the hinge pins are on the outside and you can simply remove them to take the door off. A flathead screwdriver is usually all it takes, though sometimes you need pliers, too. If that's not the case here, then you can try to wriggle a stiff piece of plastic like a credit card between the door and the jamb where the locking mechanism goes into the jamb to try to wedge it open. And if that doesn't work, you might just have to call a locksmith, though that would be the last choice because it's not going to be cheap.

how do i fix my bedroom with not alot of money?

my room is pink and frilly. i like rock and skinny jeans and converse and black. how do i redo my room? i dont have much money. so any cheap ideas?

Answer
Look for inexpensive sheets sets that you can turn into a duvet cover (pronounced "do-vay cover", it is a giant pillow case for your blanket. Just do a straight stitch up three sides of two top-sheets and leave the top open, then slip your blanket or comforter inside like a paper into an envelop or pillow into a pillow case You can baste it closed or put on buttons and button holes, but my daughter-in-law just puts the open part at the bottom of the bed), with coordinating color sheets for simple rod-pocket curtains and table cover for the night stand. You like "no frills" so solid colors or bold stripes might be more your style.

You can paint the walls yourself for about $35 in paint, a set of rollers, and one good brush. For decorations, take a photo of your favorite pair of sneakers or jeans, and take the digital photo down to a Kinko's or similar office printing store, and get them to print it up as a poster. It should be about $15, plus another $15 for an inexpensive frame. An alternative would be to spray adhesive onto a piece of foam-core board to mount it and make it easier to hang on the wall.

As far as color, since you like black, be careful that you don't overdo it as a color. If you don't want frilly girly pinkish, remember that going all black would not automatically be the opposite. Going super sophisticated might be the opposite. Clean warm tan on the walls, tones of red(blue, green, purple, or whatever) stripes on the bed and windows, and then a throw rug on the floor that picks up one or more of those colors to complete the look for a relatively small amount.

IF you can sew your own, you can get the sheets for about 8 to 10 dollars for each top sheet. How many you need depends on how many windows, how big your bed is, and so on.

If you can not sew, make a point of cruising second-hand stores. You may or may not be willing to take on second-hand bedding, but you can pick up accent pieces, posters, even rugs or weaving that would work in lieu of a head-board on your bed.

Decorating doesn't have to be expensive. You do have to be willing to be creative rather than getting it all out of a bag already coordinated, or willing to "re-purpose" things. A pair of tiny children's sneakers (I've seen "baby sneakers" at the dollar store) might be just the thing for the pull on a light chain or roller-type curtain, or with a hot-glue gun, could be a new base for a simple desk lamp. If you decide to downplay the Converse and play up the rock and roll, use a sheet of music for your poster - a song relevant to you would be perfect - and look for music themed or guitar or drums items. Drumsticks bound around the base of the lamp, for example, or guitar picks as a border on the lamp shade. Have fun with it!
