okay well i want my bedroom to be purple and black...but idk what or how to do it!!! i want a window seat i have my dresser, bed, t.v, desk, vanity etc in there too tho.......and i have hardwood floors and can only get an area rug cuz of my allergies....plz give me ideas!!!!!

I think it would be a lot of fun to use this as the center piece of your room - along with the bed in a bag I would paint the wall behind your bed the purple color of the bed in a bag, but go one or two shades lighter, you want contrast - the other walls I would leave in an off white, linen white by Benjamin Moore or similar paint - one of the walls I would have a shelf where you can display trophies, ribbons, or pictures of friends. A solid color area rug would be my choice - maybe of the "fuzzy" variety. For even more fun, with permission from your parents......... there is paint that can painted on the walls for a "chalkboard".......no matter what, make your room YOUR room..have fun with it. Another idea is to section of "areas" of the room using your vanity and desk - around your window seat you could place the shelves with your tv, ipod and whatever......if you have friends over it will give you a place to have everyone visit and an entertainment area in your room...with parents permission.

What colors and themes go well with oak and dark green?

I am planning on moving into a pretty small apartment with my boyfriend and we're planning on using his bedroom set which includes a nightstand and two dressers. They are oak with a dark green finish on the top. I want our bedroom to still look open and light and somewhat feminine. Too many ideas out there for dark green would make the room a cave so I need some ideas to make it look like the perfect mix of man/woman without washing out the light and space. Any ideas?

I think I like the first one from Penney's best. It's not tooooo feminine but it will lighten up the space. If your boyfriend doesn't like what you choose, be sure to tell him that in order for you to be happy and relaxed in the bedroom, you need to decorate it and he does want you happy in the bedroom, doesn't he? Im going to be in grade eight and im moving into a new house. My bedroom will be themed black and white. Is there a color that would be a good accent for my themed ones? What are some decorating ideas, or things i could buy for it?

Black and white with an accent color is one of the easiest themes to pull off. What I usually suggest is black & white plus your favorite color (two or three shades of the color - maximum). If I were doing this for me, I'd pick teal or turquoise or a royal blue as those are my favorites :) and I'd go with a black & white patterned bedding - just NOT zebra print as I feel it has been done to death in recent years.

Pick black or white for your furniture or go for a dark wood.

Wall color could be a light to medium gray OR a light to medium shade of your third color. If you use gray for the walls, then use your third color for accent pieces like curtains, throws or pillows. If you use a darker shade of paint, then use mainly lighter shades of the same color for your accents with maybe one item the same shade as the paint. If you use a lighter shade of paint, then do the reverse.

Target is great for black & white bedding and they also have a great selection of black & white photo posters that are reasonably priced. With a black & white themed bedroom you can use black, white or silver toned frames for your posters/pictures. Depending upon the size you need, you may be able to obtain frames to fit your color scheme at your local dollar stores.

Tan or white would be the best bet for the rest of the room. If you can paint, try a tan for 3 walls, leave 1 white and any trim white( paint is cheap and if you are renting be sure to ask first).You may want to use a throw blanket and some light decorative pillows on top of the bed to break up the black and try table runners or doylies on top of your cases. But if you are tight on money, Return the comforter and sheets to try something different.Maybe plain black and white will be pleasing, kinda go art-deco.

a rich red/orange wall accent with a nice earth tone brown will go nice on the walls to accent the furniture and beddings ... try imaging the walls in two tone colors.

My friend just move into her new house, and in one of the rooms had similar specs as your's, that's what she did and it looked great, i'm sorry I don't have pictures though...

I want to redo my bedroom and i love the color blue. I can't find the color blue paint i want though.. Where is the best place to get bright blue paint. Decorating a college apartment?

My am in college and next semester my best friend and I are getting an apartment together. She is kind of boyish and I am super girly. We will each have our own bedrooms and bathrooms and she said that I could decorate our Living room, kitchen, and dining room as well. I basically have two parts to my question:
1.) When decorating my room and bathroom, I have no furniture yet so it is a blank canvas. Where can I find some cheap durable pieces that I can transfer to my house when I graduate? Also, where are some cute decorating ideas? I love the home interior kind of stuff with the wrought iron and etc, but I am still yound and want to incorporate livliness! I also love pink and green. Where can I find cute accessories?
2.) For the living room and dining room, we have antique furniture that is very not our style. I will have to work around it until we can save for others. How can I modernize it and where can I find cheap but classy looking stuff to replace it? Thanks!

Check out fabric stores for remnants. For bedroom furniture, just look at an LL Bean catalog with all their painted white and pastel furniture. Any amateur can recreate that look with furniture from the junk store or flea market with a few cans of Krylon white spray paint.

Also check out the discount stores for "bed in a bag' type comforter sets and throw rugs.

Also check out eBay and www.overstock.com for all sorts of cool stuff.
