what are some good white furniture sets around $800?

tori

For my 12th birthday I really want to re-do my green furniture flower room into a room with teal blue walls, and white furniture. I've been looking at Bobs online store and I like the Tribeca youth becuase it comes with the dresser, mirror, desk, smaller dresser, nightstand and the shiny white furniture, but I don't like how above the mirror it has striped wood, and how the bed has foot rails. I need a twin bed becuase I already have a twin mattress. I have found a bed set that comes to all of my needs but theres no desk, so i cant have that. It also has to be all wood and around $800 ($700-$900). So if you can find me one and give me the link I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks (and btw how much does a gallon of paint cost?)

Answer
I think you are going to have a near impossible task before you if you are trying to find a bedroom set that has a bed, dresser with mirror, desk, small dresser and nightstand in ALL WOOD in the price range you've stipulated. You might find a set that has every piece of furniture you need, in white, but not ALL WOOD for the price you've set. The set at Bob's is nice and the price is even better. I think you are onto something when you asked about the paint. Can you paint your existing furniture white? You would need a semi-gloss or glossy paint which can be had for as little as $15 a gallon.

Where can I get cheap bedroom furniture?

Q. My husband and I are looking for bedroom furniture for under $700. Everywhere I go, you get a bed and one nightstand and they call that a set. Here's what I'm looking for in a set: one full/queen bed (that does not include the mattress), TWO nightstands, and at least one dresser (if I can get a chest, too, that would be great, but one dresser is fine - it does not have to have the mirror). I will pay a bit extra for delivery if I must. Anyone know where I can get some decent furniture for this price? Is that even possible? Your help is appreciated.
I should probably mention that I live in West Virginia. If you're suggestion isn't near Morgantown, then please don't suggest it.

Answer
Everything New in the $ range of 700.00 or less is going to be constructed of particle board.

I would suggest purchasing used on something like

How much should I sell my queen bedroom set?

The set is less than 2 years old and we bought it for $1400. The bed comes with headboard, footboard and rails. A matching dresser(6 drawer), mirror, and chest(5 drawer). A few tiny scratches that can be fixed with paint.
We need to sell cause we're moving out of state soon and we need the money.

So, what do you think?

Answer
I'd say $700...half of what you paid.

What is the difference between cheap and expensive drums?

bedroom sets for 700 image

I'm a beginner looking at drum sets and i'd probably rather buy a cheap one, but I don't know what the difference would be, or how big?
Which would you suggest for a beginner?

Answer
The others all have valid points...here are my 2-cents worth:

1. What is your budget like?
You can spend as little as $299.00USD or up to $700.00 for a beginner kit. Try the two sites below for good info:
http://www.cheapism.com/cheap-drum-sets
http://www.drumjunction.com/cheap_drum_sets.html

2. What kind/style of music do you like?
If you prefer rock, country, hip-hop, reggae, etc., the size of the kit and size of the individual drums & cymbals will reflect in the music. Try the above mentioned sites for various setups by the various manufacturers.

3. Where will you practice? Bedroom? Garage? Apartment?
If you live in a house, your bedroom or garage might be okay. An apartment is a different story. Apartment neighbors usually don't appreciate a drummer practicing his craft at certain hours of the day and/or night. You might want to look into an electronic drum kit. Try these sites:
http://www.ionaudio.com/prosessiondrums
http://www.musicradar.com/tuition/drums/electronic-drum-kits-6-best-beginner-sets-in-the-world-today-177956

4. Are you willing to start with a modest kit, then add on to it?
You can start with any kit and add onto it as you progress and/or have more money to spend. As someone pointed out earlier, a good basic kit will have a bass drum, bass drum pedal, snare drum & stand, 1 or 2 toms & mounts toms, a floor tom, a pair of hi-hat cymbals & stand, a ride cymbal & stand, a crash cymbal & stand, a stool/throne, a pair of drumsticks.

Remember, cheap and/or expensive doesn't always mean crappy! Ebay is a great source to get more info and to compare prices. Also try local music stores, check your local craigslist, ask other drummers if they have stuff they want to get rid of.

Hope this helps, Best of Luck!

What would be a beautiful color for my basement?

Lee Ann T

It's 1200 sq. ft. I have 2 bedrooms and 1 bath and a living area of about 700 sq. ft. It is a walk-out basement with 3 bay windows and a set of french doors. I'm looking for a color for the living area. My three boys don't want anything girlie! I just want a beautiful color that would go with tan or mocha tile.

Answer
To keep it open looking I'd choose a buttery yellow. Check out Sherwin Williams Luminescence line., "Corona" or "French Vanilla" are both nice with white trim and don't look girly, just fresh and cheerful.

How to write up a contract with a friend who agreed to pay me later for furniture?

Mike R

So about 5 months ago I moved out of my apartment. Another person (mutual friend) moved into my bedroom and we had the lease realigned so that my name is no longer associated with the apartment legally. I left a bedroom set there and agreed on a price of $700 (nothing written) to which he would pay at a later date since money was tight for him. It's now been 5 months and I have tried reaching him multiple times and more often than not get ignored. I am not afraid to bring this to the court, but before I do that I would like to write up a contract and give him the option to take this legally binding agreement. If he resists signing the contract, then I know to go to the courts. The contract is more for myself as evidence that he agreed to pay for the furniture in the first place. Is there a template out there somewhere I can use to create a contract and then run it by some family friends who are lawyers? I would rather not bring this issue to the lawyers in my family since this is an embarrassing situation. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer
You should have done the written agreement at the time you left. I think you have made a gift of the furniture (or abandonment).

How much money do i need to save up?

Q. Okay so i'm planning on moving to Los Angeles from Orange county in almost exactly a year, and when I do ill be making 47,000 a year. I have about 2,500 saved up right now. my question is how much should I save up for the initial move over? Like for rent and deposit and stock my apartment and what not? I'm looking at 1 bedroom and thrifty life style. When I live there i'll already be earning my full salary, but how much money should I save for the initial move?

A. Well, you'll need to put down the first and last month's rent, and probably a security deposit. So plan on having to cough up three month's rent at the time you sign your lease. Where I live you can get a really nice 1 bedroom apartment for $725, with heat, hot water and cooking fuel included, but I'm sure the cost of living is much higher in LA. I wouldn't know what rent is there, but whatever it is, multiply by three. For me that would be $2,175.

Plan conservatively, and save as much money as you can before the move. A lot can go wrong when you are moving, and you need to have the cash set aside to deal with it. Have all of your expenses for at least the first couple of months saved. Figure food is $150/mo, gas $100/mo, telephone/internet $50/mo, plus miscellaneous. Add another $700.

You need to have enough money left over to deal with emergencies (say, $1,000).

Ideally, you would still have enough money left over to be able to move back out of the city if the job falls through, etc, but we're not living in an ideal world.

So, the end result is that I wouldn't consider moving in your position without **at least** $4,000 in the bank, plus the moving costs. Of course, all of the above figures will be higher for you, considering the high cost of living in L.A. The other user's suggestion of $6,000 sounds about right.

Given the choice I would always prefer to have more, and if I had the ability to save it, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a savings goal of $10,000. The money can always be put to good use later.

The costs for two different kinds of heating systems for a three-bedroom home are given in the following table?
Q. The costs for two different kinds of heating systems for a three-bedroom home are given in the following table:

SystemCost to InstallOperating Cost/Year
Solar$29,700$150
Electric$5,000$1,100

a. After how many years will total costs for solar heating and electric heating be the same?

b. What will be the cost at that time?

A. Hi Its all just pie in the sky 17 to 23 years may be ,you can not factor into the equation the true ongoing maintenance costs, Solar panels are a big rip offfff as they were in the 1980s. Look at heat pumps if you want a system that viable for a three bedroom house, just stay away from solar power in the UK, in the USA you have a light in the sky we call the Sun that will help the Solar system efficiency its just the cost of the panels that sets people against the system a lot of the Solar equipmant is comming in from China costing peanuts by the time it gets to the end user its not viable. . The questions that you have asked I can not answer truthfully sorry, Hopefully someone else can help
cheers

How much would a house like this cost in Iowa next summer?
Q. My brother and i will both be done with college this spring, starting jobs where we would both make $15 per hour. I have a $300 car payment for another 2 years, and he will need a car within a year, of a similar payment.

We want to get a small house here in Iowa, area code 50613, that has a large workspace such as either a very large garage, or a seperate workshop, perhaps made from a pole barn. Neither of us plan on raising families there, so a 2-bedroom house with 1 bath and a small kitchen, just a bachelor pad, would fit quite well. We'd like to be near town, but rural enough to not have to worry too much about neighbors, since we've grown up in the country and are used to being able to shoot firearms, and work on our cars without worrying about leaving a tool laying out, for a passing kid to steal if we were in town. Darn tool-stealing kids.

Honestly, i think we would both live in a large RV if the price was right, and if we could find an empty lot for dirt cheap to build a simple workshop on. We have welding equipment, an air compressor, stuff that just doesn't fit into a small house's garage in the middle of town. Our parents are selling the acreage to move into a condo in town, and my brother and i cannot afford the huge house or property it's on, when the large workshop and rural setting are all we really need.

I thought about maybe just living in an apartment in town, and renting somebody's unused barn outside of town, for my brother to rebuild a muscle car, and myself to build a dune buggy.

Okay so this is a ton of extra info... Any advice or thoughts on how much we could get a small rural house for?

A. Depends on how far out of town you are willing to live. Cedar Falls-Waterloo is a college town, with an industrial base. Farther East and South, the more expensive. You get 75-100 West Wright/Hamilton/Franklin county areas, you can buy what you are looking for within $50-60,000 range. 30 year loan, you're talking $600-700 month including property tax and insurance. Should be able to rent around $400-500 month
