Do you think one nightstand would look akward?

I'm planning on buying a new bedroom set: headboard/footboard, armoire, and I'm thinking about just one nightstand. Would that look weird, especially considering I'm not doing the usual dresser/mirror thing? What should I do to offset it; place the bed closer to the wall? Replace it with something else? I only have 2 walls to work with because there's a large window and the other is the entryway/ closet. Here's what I'm buying if it helps http://city-furniture.com/ (dark wood)
Ok woops that link doesn't take you straight there, it's actually the 2nd bedroom set once you click under "Bedrooms" on the left side.

Answer
I don't think it would look bad. I'd think of messing around with the furniture placement.

You certainly don't want to clutter the room and OVERfurniturize. Especially since you only have two walls to really work with.

Think of wall accents to draw your eye upward. If you go with only furniture to accent the room, you end up looking down most of the time. An even balance of furniture is almost as important as the rest of the decor, e.g. drapes, sconces, wall hangings.

We have an older four poster oak bedroom set-its sturdy and well made and I just cant bring myself to get rid of it. I would really love to spice up my bedroom decor but cant figure out what would go well with the brown oak "country style" bedroom set. Im more into a contemporary or eclectic look now and I need help with some options...thanks.

Answer
I had a Lane bedroom set. It was solid oak and gorgeous. It had a canopy bed, triple dresser, armoire and two nightstands. I had that set for at least 30 years and it looked like new.

But times and tastes change and I wanted something more modern or at least "different".

Trust me, nothing you do to that "country style" set is going to satisfy you if your taste has changed. Bite the bullet and let it go. I sold my old set reasonably to someone that loved it as much as I did when it was new so I knew it went to a good home.

I then bought a new set that is just what I wanted at this point in my life. I don't go for the "sturdy, well made" (translated "really expensive") stuff anymore (I'm not talking about buying junk either, I got my new set at Ashley) because then you have it forever and get tired of it. If you take good care of whatever you buy it will last you for as long as you love it. Then, when you don't "love it" anymore you won't feel so bad to let it go.

Life is short, you deserve to have what makes you happy today!!

Edited: I work for a store that sells furniture wholesale and I update their catalogs. Believe me when I tell you that if you paint the "country" furniture black, it's going to look like black "country" furniture (I see hundreds of sets of black "country" furniture). Country is country is country. If you try to put modern stuff in, on and around your "country" stuff, it's going to scream "she's trying not to look country, but it's country with modern stuff". It won't go. I had country decorating in my home. My husband bought me a baby grand piano. When they bought it in and set it down amidst my "country" stuff, you could almost hear the piano saying "What's all this stuff?" I had to change my decor to go with the piano (much more sophistocated victorian). Modern stuff has clean lines and there is no way to make country stuff look modern.

I'll say it again, life is short, get what you really want and enjoy it.

I decided on a black steel bed for one of my bedrooms but i dont know what type of dresser or nightstand to get with it. It is not sold as a bedroom set. The store suggested that most people who buy this type bed get black solid wood furniture like an armoire or chest to complement it. i am not into matching since i have eclectic taste just wondering for some suggestions.
It is the masterbedroom and the walls will be a light gray color. The trim is white and the bedroom comforter set will be either white or blue.

Answer
With a black steel bed any color would go with it. You could try to match or tone in with the floor or wall. Or you could go with a contrasting color, although probably best not to have more than 3 or 4 colors total. It also depends a bit on the size of the room, i.e. the larger the room, the more colors you could use, if you want to. Also, because it is a bedroom, maybe you should use paler pastel colors rather than bold primary colors.

The main thing is to have fun with it!!!!!!!!

Is there a big difference between coffee and espresso colored furniture?

Q. I am trying to complete a bedroom set by purchasing different parts from different sets. The headboard I bought was beautiful, but the dressers and armoires weren't. So I'm putting together my own "set". I would consider my headboard to be an espresso color and there is a dresser online that is considered "coffee" color. There are other dressers that are espresso but I L0VE this dresser. If I were to purchase it would the colors be totally off?

Answer
Espresso is nearly black Coffee is a very dark brown ..As far as the colors being off...yes depends on their proximity and the lighting too. PLus the colors are wildly different manufacturer to manufacturer. It could work especially if it is multitoned.. What I would do is take a photo that accurately represents the color of the headboard and email it to them but their monitors could be skewed.

How much a discount I should get if any?

I went to Value city furniture to purchase a bedroom set for$3147. It was that much because I added an armoire for $899.99. At that time they had enough armoires in stock for me to get. Over two weeks later I get a call from them saying the warehouse no longer had any more armoires and they were discontinued, and I could get the one on the floor. I have no idea how long it has been on the floor or if its in good condition. (I will see tomorrow).

Answer
Ask them to take off $150.00, they will probably come down to $100.00. I can't see them not taking something off, when the alternative could be risking the sale.

I have a old Ethan Allen (Girl)Bedroom Set and would like to sell it. How do i know how much it's worth?

cll1spring

The Original Owner painted the Set twice. The Head and Footboard have damage on the wicker. I wanted to strip the paint but do not want to hurt the Furniture.
Fullsize Bed,Chiffon Robe,Desk (Marble Top) and matching Mirror.

Answer

Where is the manufacturers label located on bedroom furniture?
Q. I have a mid-century bedroom set and I'm curious to know who the manufacturer was.

A. On furniture, unless it's upholstered furniture, there isn't a label per say. Usually, a furniture manufacturer will stamp or burn their label on the underside of tables, on the backing of armoires and dressers, etc.

We are looking for ideas on how to set up the master bedroom without dressers or nightstands.?
Q. Our new place has lots of closets and storage. We are thinking of not going with the norm of bedroom sets and do something different. Suggestions welcome!
We are also not planning on having a television in the room. Any other ideas?

A. I guess it would depend on how big the room is. If you're planning on buying a new bed you could up-size as long as it doesn't overpower the room. A chaise lounge would be really pretty and you could put a floor lamp next to it for reading. You might also consider a tall mirror - either one you can lean against a wall or a free-standing one. You don't want the room to look too plain so curtains would add some color. Are you putting a TV in the room? An armoire would look good and add some height to the room.
