Ideas for a New York theme bedroom?

[[]]

I want to redecorate my room with a NY theme.
What are some thing i should do, colors to use.
THanks

(not the team)

Answer
Try a modern look. Black would be too heavy on all walls so just go for one. With the others a gray. You could also buy a mural of new york. Try to accent the room with bright colors such as a rich bright pink, a bright orange or yellow, or a bright blue. Include pictures of new york. Also frame the I heart NY t-shirt in a frame.
go to this website for a subway metal sign: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://imagecache2.all

have fun.

How should I finish decorating my bedroom?

Travis

The last project of re-modeling our entire house was painting my room; three walls are a very soft tan color, almost a warm gray, and one wall is dark red, like red wine or almost brick red.

As far as my bedding goes, my sheets are medium brown with a dark brown comforter. I have two pillow shams that match the comforter, two pillows that match the sheets, and two that match the red wall. The rest of my furniture is leftover from the prior design and is mostly black, which I'm considering changing to a chocolate brown.

I'm going for more of a modern look, but I'm stuck on wall decorations. I'd like some nice art to hang up and give the room some character, but my brain is overloaded with colors and ideas after re-doing the entire house. Having recently discovered the joy that is Yahoo! Answers this is the first place I turned.

To the thousands of eager users: please share your ideas with me!

Photo collage of you and your friends/family.
Cut out any size out of thin cardboard. (a cereal box works great)
To make the hanger, punch two holes 1/2 inch apart 1 inch from the top in the center,
(where a hanger is on the back of a frame)
thread the ends of a twisty tie (the paper covered wire used to close bread) thru the holes, turn cardboard over, make a loop and twist the ends together.
You can glue photos side by side or overlapping.
or a multi-pc frame

RENT IN NEW YORK??????

BORN-THIS-

I NEED TO A OFFICIAL AND GOOD WEBSITE WHERE I CAN FIND A RENT IN NEW YORK CITY

Answer
There are no official websites on the subject of rent. Each building owner can set rent at the price they wish. Most apartments are never advertised--they get filled very quickly.

For a one bedroom apartment, you will pay somewhere between $1500 and $3000 a month, depending upon the location of the apartment and how nice the building is.

new york themed room?

Katie Cox

Basically i am going to redecorate my bedroom and the theme is new york broadway. One wall will be black and white patterned with the rest being hot pink, and i've already bought some colourful canvas pictures of the new york skyline, brooklyn bridge and times square. My duvet set is also the new york skyline. Does anyone have any ideas on other furniture and decorations that are broadway themed? thanks for any help x

How much would a half acre of land cost?

Kacy

I want to buy half an acre of land in either New York state, Dayton Ohio, or the Republic of Ireland. Planning permission is not a requirement.
I see your point, but where can i get information for the actual costs? Is there a way I can view prices in different areas? Im not really set on a particular place Id just like to do a price comparsions, but the only sites I can find dont sell land just houses.

Answer
It depends on the SPECIFIC plot of land. A 1/2 acre in New York City is not the same as outside of Buffalo. Th middle of Dayton is different that the outskirts. Ireland is a COUNTRY...so I am not even going to talk about that one. There is no set price for land....ANYWHERE. In one place a 1/2 acre might only be $5000 and a mile north from that piece of land might be $50,000. That is exactly like asking...."How much is a 3 bedroom house in California?"

My son is about to set up his first apartment. He is stationed in Japan. I want to find a list of essentials for each room. Very basic, but I want to help him as much as possible. I live in New York City.

Answer
My Husband was stationed in Japan a few years back. He said that there you have just the basic essentials - it's a much more simple culture than our own.

I would say the following:

Kitchen: George Foreman & Pasta Pot & Frying Pan & Toaster (You can do ANYTHING with these 4 items!)

Living Room: Futon (doubles as a bed!), TV, Comfy Chair, Coffee Table (He's a man ... he needs somewhere to set his soda's and he's probably NOT going to eat at a kitchen table anyway)

Bedroom: Bed (if no futon in LR) or Desk w/ Computer

(If he has a futon in the LR - the tv's in there so he'd probably sleep out there anyway - the bedroom makes a great Computer Room)

NOTE: You probably want to get that man an ironing board and a decent iron - he'll need to keep his uniforms in working condition - I was in the Navy and my husband in the Marines you CANNOT live without an iron! Plus you can set it up in the room w/ the Computer!

Bathroom: Shampoo, Razor's, Shaving Cream/Gel, Toothbrush & Paste

:) Good Luck! :)

How much is a modular house cost from G&I homes or other modular house places in new york????

Olivia

my mom wants to move. but the houses around where we live are too exspensive. so i thought a modular house would be cheaper. we live in new york. and we want to buy a modular house from G&I homes. its 1,800 + sq feet .
http://www.gihomes.net/

go to houses on the site
go all the way down the page to G&I homes searching
and look up cape cod
its 3 bedroom.
and its called Hartwick Cape Chalet

how much do you think a modular home like that would cost?

Answer
It really depends, but costs vary from $115 -$140 depending on the materials used etc.

Let's say it's $140 sqft ...just to stay on high side x 1800 = $252,000 .

Site additions*
*Typical community delivery/set-up/AC and site amenities such as driveway, carport, garage, screen room, etc. can vary from $35,000 to $60,000.

How do beginning models afford to live in New York?

Q. I was just wondering because I'm going to meet with an agency there in a week. Any advice from other models would be great on modeling in New York in general and what are the top things to do in New York? Thanks!

A. Many of them have jobs at night - restaurants, bars, nightclubs, late shift temp jobs, etc if they don't have rich parents. Just look at the staff of trendy NY bars, clubs and restaurants - every girl working there is at least 5'10" and gorgeous. There are some places like Coffee Shop on Union Square that are owned by 2 former models who pretty much only hire current and former models to work as waitresses and bartenders.

If an agency thinks you have real potential, they may sometimes loan you money to pay for your rent in the model apartment, but then will take it out of your pay as you get booked on jobs. So instead of taking their standard 10-15% commission in NY, they will take out 50% your first few months in order to pay off the debt. Model apartments are not luxurious - they are like dorms with 2 sets of bunkbeds in a small bedroom and a chaperone living there

What are some colors or ideas that i can paint and decorate my bedroom with?

Q. I need 2 main colors for my room and i can't think of any cool designs either. I am a 15 year old girl and i like funky things and cool things really. I was thinking maybe Eiffel Tower or New York Yankees? Idk. If you have any ideas please let me know! (:

A. When doing a room you need to start with the focal point which is normally the bed. Find a duvet for your comforter or a new bedding set and everything else will fall into place easily.

How much money would someone typically need to get set up in New York?
Q. If you wanted to move to New York City how much money would you typically need to have to get a decent enough place and get set up there? In what areas could you find cheaper but decent apartments or homes in safe neighborhoods?

A. Lots and lots. We here in the city are not all rich as I'm sure you know but it does cost more than what you may be expecting. I'm not sure what you mean by decent so I'll assume you're by yourself and would what a one bedroom apartment in a safe area. If that's the case then Astoria in Queens is a good place to start. Typical apartments out there go for 1000-1500 a month. If you have a car then gas is about 4 a gallon. Since you'll be in city you would have a hard time driving and getting parking space so you will most likely ride the subways. A metrocard (your ticket to ride so to speak) will cost you 2 dollars one way. It's better to have an unlimited which costs 81 for a monthly, 45 for two weeks and 25 for a weekly. Utilities vary by building but you will most likely have a cable bill which can go for around 100, electricity bill which is different by building but will be anywhere from 60 to 200 in some places; a phone bill which can be like 40 to 50 and then your luxury bills like cell phones and internet. Then you have you groceries but that depends on you and then what ever else you'll need to live your life like your toiletries and then your entertainment needs. In other words it's a lot so start saving and good luck.

How much would it run me to live in New York in the smallest one bedroom apartment?
Q. So I really want to just move to New York IN THE SMALLEST ONE BEDRROOM and be happy but i was wondering what should i do about maybe a job, and somwhere to stay for like cheap thats not that that bad. How much would everything run me? SOMEONE FROM NEW YORK PLEASE HELP ME.....:)

A. Okay, by smallest one-bedroom do you mean your own apartment? Because there are large apartments with up to 15 bedrooms in Chinatown that go for around $750 per bedroom (you share a bathroom, kitchen, etc). Also, there are "studio/loft" apartments, which don't have a separate bedroom. A cheap studio will set you back around $1300. A cheap REAL one-bedroom apartment, you're looking at around $1800-$2000.

Outside Manhattan, you can live comfortably for around $700 (Brooklyn, Queens, Jersey, etc)

This is all not including electricity, water, heat, a/c, internet, cable, laundry, etc. Your best bet would be to find a roommate, because two can live as cheaply as one.
