Any Nationwide Baby Expo's? Maryland specifically?

Sarah

Hello! I really want to go to a baby expo (like a wedding expo). Are there any baby expo's that any of you have been or heard of in Maryland or a nationwide one that goes state to state?

Answer
I have been to the baby expo on Long Island , New York and it was very nice. I didn't win anything, but they gave away strollers and free formula and all types of samples. They have all types of baby bedroom sets vender's and vender's that have info on childbirth and cord blood banking, clothing and all other types of things. The one I went to also had a petting zoo. I thought that it was nice. Have fun!!!!!!

its the back bedroom in a Modle home always?

suzonka

its the back bedroom in a Mobile home always always the coldest room in the winter time with the hot air heating system working At its best ? I have a 12X 75 foot mobile home in NY long island area , and my vents are clean and I even puttied up the ones that seemed they needed some caulking last summer I did it. well for some reason that back bedroom is always the coldest room , it has 2 vents on the floor , the next room is the bathroom with 1 vent .that's always hot. and the next bedroom has 1 vent and 1 air intake on the floor that's OK , the living room has 4 vents, with a high celing ,and that's OK with the heat on , the dinning room has 2 vents that's OK and the kitchen has 1 vent, but because the refrigerator makes some heat and the cooking , its fairly warm in the kitchen, does anyone else notice that the back biggest bed room is the worst room to heat ? we have a hot electric blanket for a t night and that works good.please let me know if its just a characteristic of the mobile home set ups,>>???

For stay at home moms or just people in general who are home all day and depressed?

mimi

I've never felt this way before but I've just been sad all the time and I think being home all day is the cause. I just recently graduated college and have been searching for a job for months. My husband is at work all day as well as my friends. I try to keep busy by cleaning house or even go shopping but then that gets old. I feel like I've gotten to a point where I don't have the energy to leave the house anymore. I could stay in bed all day but I would never want my husband to come home and see me like that so I drag myself to get dressed and put makeup on. Coffee use to be able to perk me up for a while and give me energy, now that doesn't even work anymore. I know I should probably be outside in the sun and go for a walk and maybe that would help, but I hate just being alone. I live in a boring city/big town with not much to do and sometimes wish I was somewhere else such as New York, Los Angeles...anywhere but here. I just know I should be doing so much more with my life but I feel so stuck in this city so little possibilities and I don't know what to do. Does anyone who is currently unemployed or stay at home moms ever feel this way?

Answer
Hi....Let me just say that I live right in the middle of NYC,actually I live in Long Island City,New York. And I am also a stay at home wife...BORING!!!! My husband works from 5am-5:30pm,M-Sunday.Yes 7 days a week!! So,I get very bored and lonely right here in the BIG city of NYC! I know exactly how you feel, especially with the whole coffe thing, funny how you mentioned that too.I drink my coffee really strong too,now it doesn't work for me anymore either.I stay home, cook, clean and make myself up pretty too with the make-up,hair(sometimes).But I just get so tired of even doing that! What I do now for myself is I got into a Woman's support group.I have to say that just because I live in a big city, doesn't mean you can't find a support group for yourself. So don't think that you can't find 1 due to the fact your NOT living in a big city!!! I'm also in a different counseling session every week besides my Woman's group.I only have 2 meetings a week, but it does help somewhat.Other than that,I don't do much.I'm not much of a window shopper,we don't have a lot of spending money. The rent here in NYC is terrible,we now pay $1,550 for just a 1 bedroom apartment,so we have a tight budget to live on.What you need to do is to find something/anything to pass your day.Not TV,not a computer...I am actually quite comfortable being along NOW I am anyways. My Woman's group counselor was very concerned about me staying home alone all the time. But I finally got her to see that I'm quite happy with it,but there ARE times I feel like you do.I get down, sad, depressed and SO freaking BORED!!! I'm NOT the kind pf person who can go out and party(GOD knows there is a lot of places here for that),I don't go out and eat a lot,I'm not a big fan of movies, museums(spelled it wrong maybe). But IF I do feel like I have to get out,I GO!! I know how you feel about your life NOT being fulfilled,I also wanna do something with my life.I'm almost 40,and I have nothing more than my GED! I have the ability to get a better education..and better yet,I can do that free, especially living here in NYC.The opportunites for a better education are wonderful, better health care(free for most),and so many other possibilities for me.I just don't have my get-up-and-GO anymore! And I hate IT!!!!! I'm also stuck dear..I wish you could tell me how to get myself out of my own rut.I know that MY issues with my rut...My issues are all my own self-pity!! I'm gonna have to get off my a$$ and do something about my LIFE! The longer I sit here and the more I complain, the longer and harder it will be for me to fulfill any of my goals and dreams I have set for myself. This IS the same for you too! I suggest to you..that you slowly start setting and making some goals for yourself, easy though!! Easy goals, just easy enough for you to accomplish and once you have accomplished 1 goal, then you move onto another EASY goal!!! So far...the goal I've set for myself is that I made myself an appointment for next week to get into a program called VESID,which will enable me to get into school free of charge. This is just 1 goal I've set for myself, even though it's ONLY an appointment it's a goal which I intent to achieve!! I don't have any of the answers that your looking for,but I do have advice as to help you set some realistic goals for your future.Try doing as I mentioned earlier, see what goals you accomplish, see how many you CAN accomplish.I have a good feeling that you WILL go somewhere in your town. You don't have to come to NYC or LA to make it in life.I wish you all the best and I have a good feeling that you'll do just fine with your life.GOD BLESS.

Whats the different between a Rural Community, a Urban Community, and a Suburban Community?

ash.

I have to do a Triple Venn Diagram for one of my classes, but I dont really know what the differences are. What do you find in a Rural Community, that you dont see in an Urban Community? What do they drive? What do people live in over there? (Apartments, condos, houses, etc.) Helppp pleaseeeee?

Answer
Rural is large tracts of land with plenty of Farms. Average land holding is 50 acres or more.
Urban is City Living with apartment buildings and heavy traffic
Suburban is a bedroom community for a major city.
They drive cars since the USA has roads every where.
Look up New York State. New York City is a Urban setting with High rises, condos, co ops, town houses and private homes. Most use public transportation since parking spaces are at a premium.
Long Island is a Suburban community with people for the most part working in the City. They drive and use public transportation. Then look at upstate NY roughly 250 miles from the city and you see Dairy Farms, State Land, Produce Farms, lakes, streams. Drive cars since no public transportation.

To: All-religious Buffs out there!!...“Welcome to Fantasy-Island!!! ?

LucasV

Letâs just say I believe in GOD, Zeus, American idol, Allah, or w/ever.. and I died, and went to heaven, am I going to be or live in heaven for (1) billion?,(2) billion?, or 9999 trillion years there? How about 1,984,428,564,997,000 gazillion light years in heaven. Man!!!.. GOD is going to be exhausted of my ass! â¦My girlfriend is fatigued of me now!.. And weâve only been together â5â itty-bitty years! Compared to those (long)Galactic years in heaven, so.. This is my rationale reason why I donât deem myself âloyalâ to heavily-bearded characters like.. Santa or Jesus. From now on, my life will be lived in the following conviction & principles.. If I don't work, I don't eat, if I don't exercise, Iâm prone to health risks, if I look for trouble, I will find it, If I get fired from my job, that probably wasn't my line of work anyway & it reflected in my job performance. Are you getting the picture here? Itâs all "CAUSE AND EFFECT" Not!.. I hope & pray I get this job.. Awaken! from the illusion, & don't allow the system to program you into the belief that,
thereâs a âsupernatural entity out there, get out of The TWILIGHT ZONE! or better yet!!.. âWelcome to Fantasy-Islandââ¦.(Remember that one?).. who knows, maybe Ricardo Moltalban was GOD all this time? He even wore the gleaming! white suit to go with the title. How about his ugly little dwarf sidekick he had next to him al the time, remember him?.. he could play the Devil. So whenever someone is trying to preach the gospel to you, always!, always!, remember this famous! Quote forever! & until the day you die!!â¦â¦â¦.âWelcome to Fantasy-Islandââ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦

Answer
This isn't an actual question. This is an attempt to try and make people with certain beliefs feel as if they are being silly. What you do not understand is that this is truth we have found and tested.

Prayer, magick or belief in a higher power is NOT a crutch, it is NOT something to blame for our failures, it is NOT the reason for our successes and you have a wrong idea of what God is. You mentioned that it's a "heavily_bearded character" when I think you're the one that is being quite silly.

God is known as an energy, by most religions and spiritual beings. It has every shape and no shape, It has all colors and no color. It is what makes the world go 'round. This energy is what science has been doing research on. All things can be broken down into energy, thanks to science we are now sure of that, and this energy is what we call god. This bearded fellow you talk about is simply this pure energy personified. If you were to have put enough effort in understanding as you do into typing up this question you would know that. We humans personify God because it is easier for us to find a connection to Her/Him/It.

On the subject of Heaven/Summerlands/etc: It is our physical body that is limited by time not our energetic body. When we die, our essence rejoin the source of all life and there is no time to be told. You can move backwards and forwards withing a blink of an eye. Time is not an issue. Once again, you have failed to actually educate yourself in what heaven, spiritual bodies or even god is.

So before you storm in here with a bible set on fire and your crazy ideas on what rational behaviour is, look at how you presented this question.

Rational: Having or exercising the ability to reason. Of sound mind; sane.

If you had the capabilities to reason, you would be able to sit down for a good amount of time and research what is god. Find the truth behind it all, the deeper meaning of things and how science steps in and helps explain the mechanis of our beleifs. You are a blind man if you cannot see the similarities from science to spiritual beliefs.

So stumble back into your bedroom, stop trying to sound as if you are an evolved and intelligent being because you have no need for god, or because you feel that you have more rational beliefs.

So welcome to fantasy island, when you grow up you can rejoin us all in reality. Where science and spirituality work together and not against each other. Where we use both to evolve and become better beings. With both tools at our hands we can find an understanding of where we came from, what we are capable of and bring about a better world.

May you reasearch, learn and have an open mind before you stick your foot in your mouth once again.

Where's the best place to stay in the US Virgin Islands, St. Thomas?

Lorraine P

I am planning a trip to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands in August. Where is the best place to stay and why? Are there any sites and/or excursions that I must see/try before leaving? The trip will be part relaxation, part adventurous, and part romantic. No children traveling with us.

Answer
When I went to St. Thomas we stayed at Marriott Frenchmans Reef and Morningstar Resort. Frenchmans Reef is the actual hotel and Morningstar are little cubic cottages located directly on the beach. You have access to the hotel; however, its a long, but scenic, walk up many flights of steps. Direct next to Frenchmans Reef and Morningstar Resort is another Marriott property. It is called Marriott Frenchmans Cove. This is a timeshare property; however, you can rent through http://www.redweek.com. This is what we used for when we went to Aruba this summer. From 8/05/11 to 8/12/11 it's $214 per night at Frenchmans Cove for a two bedroom villa with a kitchen.(Having a kitchen will save you A LOT of money.) I recommend you rent a car to be able to explore the whole island(and go to the grocery store and go shopping! Trust me alcohol there is half the price!). Somethings you must do/see.

Beaches:
Magens Bay: Beautiful heart-shaped beach. Voted one of the top ten in the world.
Lindquist Beach: Beautiful stretch of beach, our personal favorite.
Sapphire Beach: There were so many different shades of blue and good snorkeling here too! (bring your own snorkels and pack them in your suitcase).

Shopping:
In downtown Charlotte Amelie by where the cruise ships are there is a nice shopping center (duty-free)
Near there is a thing we called "Tent City". It is just a bunch of tents where vendors set up this is where we bought all of our souvenirs for VERY cheap!

Restaurants:
Hooters was pretty good, i LOL'd at the mini casino in it.
Glady's Cafe was a little hole-in-the-wall place downtown in an ally. Great food!
Havana Blue, upscale gourmet dining at Marriott. Very pricey.

Attractions/Things to do:
Paradise Point: a skyride in downtown nice little bar and restaurant at the top. great views of the island.
Parasailing: Amazing. The colors of blue you can see when you're up in the air!
Ferry to St. John: Take the car barge to St. John, a neighboring US virgin island. It's 42 round trip to take your car over to the island. Stay for the day and hit up Trunk Bay. THIS IS THE BEST BEACH IN THE CARIBBEAN, i promise you! There is an underwater snorkeling trail. This is the best snorkeling ever and the bluest water I have ever seen.

Guam is an excellent tourist destination, but what is it like to live there?

Please let me know if you live there or lived there! My wife and I want to live there for awhile. Any work there for bilingual (Mandarin and English) American citizens?

Answer
It's an expensive place to live. I rented a Two bedroom apartment for 850.00 per month. The power bill is huge,If a Typhoon hits the island you will not have power for a long time. My neighborhood was without power for Sixty five days once, fuel prices are huge. No public transportation like buses. They have vans with no real set schedule? Big time corruption one Governor misplaced Thirteen million US dollars which is still not accounted for? If you think the mainland has a meth problem Guam is worse. If you are white sometimes the locals will call you a hawley and pick fights with you. If you are Black it's the same. Go figure? One family owns all the grocery stores and the distribution rights to just about every type of food you need to buy plus half of the island. Once you get past all that It's beautiful, Fresh air, It's sunny everyday. It only rains for maybe five minutes at a time. The diving is awesome. If you work hard you can make good money. When you make friends with the locals. They are real friends. Get a job there before you go and you should be fine. There are no unemployment benefits. If you loose your job that's it.

What is the cost of living in Fiji?

What kind of a yearly salary would I need to live comfortably in Fiji?

Answer
http:// icsc.un .org/resources/pdfs/2004/hsg/ fiji-04 .pdf recommends a monthly income of $5, 758 .92 to live in Suva the way someone would typically live in New York (not Donald Trump, just a small 2 to 4 bedroom house or apartment). That would mean an annual income of $69, 107 .04.

However, if you move to the smaller towns or lesser islands, shop at local markets rather than supermarkets, grow at least some of your own food, are willing to settle for part-time electricity from a generator, and so on, you can live on much, much less. $30,000 would a luxurious income in the boonies.

According to one article on living in Fiji, the capital, Suva, offers apartments and houses from $250 to "luxury" flats and homes ranging around $3500. It also says that sometimes, if you let the owner know you plan to live at the residence for a long time, you can work a deal.

Food is expensive in the capital - There are a couple of big supermarkets that feature imported foods and products. The price is high. Almost $4 for a head of lettuce or cabbage from New Zealand or Australia.

You also have the traffic, noise and crowds in Suva. On the positive side, there are the government offices and the American Embassy and you get to mingle with mostly professional expats at the happy hour bars.

You can also consider living in other parts of Fiji. On the other side of Viti Levu, the main island and biggest of the group, is Nadi (Nan di), the jet city, called this, I imagine because it's where the airport is. There are night clubs, a good supermarket and a small community of expats. Suva on a smaller scale.

Lautoka, the sugar town, is north of Nadi, and called the sugar town because of the large amount of sugar cane farms and the ever present sugar train shugging through. It's also a seaport town and some cruises leave from here.

Lautoka is quieter and slower than Nadi. A quaint place where you can find lace mosquitoe nets and unique pots and early century kitchen do dads that can only be found here in second hand shops. Rents are cheaper. Not many expats.

Coming back down southeast of Nadi but still on the west side of the island is Sigatoka (Sing ga toka), a small one road town. It was a one bridge town before hurricaine Sina (1992) destroyed half of it. It was one lane with a stop light on each end. Traffic going to Nadi had to wait until traffic going to Suva cleared. The government was building a four lane bridge when I left.

Sigatoka is the last city before going into the interior or "salad bowl" as its called. Thats where the majority of the vegetables on the island are grown. The Sigatoka market is great though Saturday is best. You can buy three heads of cabbage or lettuce for fifty cents. A bunch of bananas for fifty cents, bunch of string beans for the same price.

Basically there's nothing to do in Sigatoka but in Korotogo (koro tongo, named after the village) there's a couple of ma and pa Indian run stores, friendly locals and a few expats. Let it be known that I spent five years in Fiji and never ventured further than Korotogo. I went on a few tours but I haven't seen anymore of Fiji. Plan to though, on my next trip. The Reef Hotel is located here on the coral coast as the area is called. It has a nice restaurant and a great bar for afternoon drinks or night dancing. Coral coveres the beach but there are plenty of spots to sunbathe and the ocean, protected by the reef, is clear and great for swimming. Or just sit on the beach and watch the sun set.

Fijians are mostly Methodist and don't go to the beach on Sundays. You may find a few Indian families and some tourists. Mainly, you will have it to yourself.

For $300 a month, you can get a three bedroom unfurnished flat with a large fenced yard. These new flats are about seven years old. They have hot water and lots of flowers and fruits trees in the yards. These are in Korotogo on the backroad. If you plan a long stay, try bargaining the price down.

About getting a job, the article's author says:
"Getting a job in Fiji is almost impossible. I lucked up and got a teaching job. I taught high school English in the interior. Thlis was after I had my degree sent down. They want to see the original. They did provide me with a free two bedroom barely furnished house. We had a generator that came on for a few hours at night. No hot water, outdoor non-flush toilet (a big hole with commode over it). I did manage to save some money and really got a chance to mingle with the locals and see the Fiji tourists don't see.

At present, there is more of a need for accounting, science and math teachers.

To start a business, you need a Fijian as your partner and permission from Immigratin. You may also be asked to deposit $1800 as bond. (If all fails, they want you to havae airfare out). Their approval could take from a few weeks to years.

If you just want to work there, you have to have some skill that a local doesn't and you are to train them to
