Best place to buy bedroom furniture in OC CA?

Miz J

I'm looking for a bedroom set contemporary looking espresso finish, not necesarily hardwood, but hardwood veneer at least. I'm on a buget of 1,700 or so including delivery. Someone mention Bellflower and Fountain Valley..Where abouts I'm new to the area.

how do i stain furniture that has already been stained long time ago?

maricel m

old brown stain on wood bedroom set would like to restain to a new expresso finish...

Answer
If you want to do it right, chemically strip, lightly sand, restain and refinish. If it's an old piece, it may be due for a refinishing anyway.

Most espresso finishes have red undertones and black overtones. (This is subject to interpretation of the marketing department). This will be tough to get to with a brown stain on it now.

When I do an espresso finish, I like to do a dark cherry pre-stain, a dark wiping stain (I use General Finishes "Espresso" or a thinned black enamel) and then put on clear coats.

Where can I find a grown up lookin twin bed?

Miki

My mom has wanted a twin bed that will be easier for her to take care of for a few years now but most of the ones I see are either too low or very evident that it was meant for a child. I want to redo her whole bedroom while she is visiting her sister's family for thanksgiving.

I already bought the bedding http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?sku=17265237& and need to find a bed that will go with this. I think espresso would look nice with the light colored bedding.

Answer
This looks nice if you are willing to buy the whole set. I hope you mom likes her gift :)

Where can I find Storehouse bedroom furniture?

Kate

I recently found out Storehouse went out of business. I've always been planning to add on some bedroom pieces, but now I'm out of luck! Does anyone know of a store that would sell similar furniture? I know Rowe has comparable sofas, but I'm looking for bedroom furniture. My set is the Java collection (espresso finish).

I recently came across a beautiful, modern, well priced canopy bed which is something I have always wanted. Unfortunately, it only comes in a black metal finish & all my bedroom furniture is a very dark espresso color. Can I mix the black bed with the dark brown furniture? Could I spraypaint it without making it look gross & terribly cheap & if so should I do it in silver (the rest of the metal in the room is silver) or paint it brown?

Answer
I would first prime it......then paint it a light brown.
After the light brown dries.... i would take some brown expresso colored paint on a paint brush.....paint it onto a rag with the paintbrush and then just lightly wipe the brown paint onto the light brown just to give a 'shadowing' effect of the dark brown onto the light brown... (to match the other pieces in the bedroom).

This way, it doesn't seem like you tried to be too 'matchy matchy' with the bed that obviously is a seperate piece than the other pieces of the bedroom set......AND....it will add visual interest to the room.

What color should I paint my room?

Kristin

I am a teenage girl, currently living on the main level of my house. We recently decided to finish the basement and I will be moving down there. My room upstairs has three punch pink walls with a hot pink accent wall and a zebra duvet for my bed with pink polka dot sheets. For downstairs, I'd like to move away from the pink into something a bit more mature and yet still fun. I was looking at a Tiffany blue sort of color, but I'm not sure how well it goes with the new carpet which is two-toned with a light brown and lighter tan, very warm looking. Any suggestions would be helpful! Mostly looking for wall colors, and more than one color in the room is perfectly alright! Thank you so much for your help!(:

Answer
Paint your walls in the tan and use accent colors.... in bedding ,curtains, throws, pillows etc.
Your current color scheme on the duvet/sheets would work fine

My bedroom has the following colors

Tan walls, white trim, black and espresso furniture. Comforter set has Brown, white , blue.
Tan /beige lamps and pics on walls and pop of green ( silk plants) throughout the room.
I also have a couple of small covered brown baskets on my dresser.

Is there a big difference between coffee and espresso colored furniture?

Q. I am trying to complete a bedroom set by purchasing different parts from different sets. The headboard I bought was beautiful, but the dressers and armoires weren't. So I'm putting together my own "set". I would consider my headboard to be an espresso color and there is a dresser online that is considered "coffee" color. There are other dressers that are espresso but I L0VE this dresser. If I were to purchase it would the colors be totally off?

Answer
Espresso is nearly black Coffee is a very dark brown ..As far as the colors being off...yes depends on their proximity and the lighting too. PLus the colors are wildly different manufacturer to manufacturer. It could work especially if it is multitoned.. What I would do is take a photo that accurately represents the color of the headboard and email it to them but their monitors could be skewed.
