How much a discount I should get if any?
Q. I went to Value city furniture to purchase a bedroom set for$3147. It was that much because I added an armoire for $899.99. At that time they had enough armoires in stock for me to get. Over two weeks later I get a call from them saying the warehouse no longer had any more armoires and they were discontinued, and I could get the one on the floor. I have no idea how long it has been on the floor or if its in good condition. (I will see tomorrow).
A. Ask them to take off $150.00, they will probably come down to $100.00. I can't see them not taking something off, when the alternative could be risking the sale.
When is the best time to buy from Ashley Furniture?
Q. I want to buy a bedroom set from Ashley Furniture. When do they have the best prices? What kind of sale schedule do they have?
A. Though I do not know a whole lot about Ashley's retail stores, I do know the company well; the furniture retailer for whom I worked sales, customers service, and management was an Ashley dealer. I can only assume, as one of the other responses did, that they function in much the same way that other discount furniture retailers do.
Furniture stores, as was mentioned, tend to have some definite sale times. Statistically, the big weekends of the year are memorial day and labor day. Those also tend to be the days of the biggest sales (generally a circus in the store, so check to see if they start sales prior to the actual holiday weekend). Additionally, any other "3 day weekend" holiday tends to trigger furniture sales.

where can i get some furniture at a discounted rate?
Q. just moved into a new house and i dont have alot of money to spend but i definitely need a good bedroom set for my daughter and i at a reasonable price. i live in baltimore so if anyone knows of any places i would appreciate it. thanks in advance...oh also if you know where i can get some carpet from too that would help as well.
A. Craigslist is your best bet! I'm not sure how many people sell on Craigslist up there, but here in Dallas it's like a gold mine. People are selling perfectly good furniture at garage sale prices. It's hard for me not to want to buy it all!
Also down here the Salvation Army and Goodwill have furniture. A lot of older furniture is better anyway because it's solid wood and doesn't have the formaldehyde and bad chemicals that the new "fake wood" furniture has. Good luck!
